Do you ever wonder why the crime is so high in other countries and parts of the U.S? The main reason for a high crime rate is lack of gun ownership. The lack of guns has continuously proven to cause more crime, while more gun ownership has proven to lower crime. Although the opinion of some is that American gun laws should be more strict, the truth is that gun ownership is a constitutional right, gun laws in other countries show that the lack of guns leads to more violence, and gun statistics in the U.S. show that gun ownership is beneficial.

The restriction of gun laws vary across the world. The lack of gun ownership proves a higher crime rate. Taking Cote D’Ivoire for example. The gun laws of Cote D’Ivoire are very strict. The lack of firearms give law abiding citizens no chance for self defense. Moving on to the strict gun laws in the U.K. The gun laws in the U.K. were once loose, but in 1997 they officially banned handguns. After the ban, crime rates skyrocketed. Although these guns were banned, the criminals still had access to handguns. This meant that criminals could obtain these guns for crimes, but left the citizens defenseless. On top of that, with one exception since 1950, every mass shooting has taken place in a gun free zone. This is because not a single citizens could legally carry a gun for protection. It would leave them completely defenseless against the attacker. The attacker also knows that not a single person is carrying a gun. This yet again proves that an armed society is a polite society. It also is another reason why more citizens should own guns. When criminals have guns, it is also good for citizens to have them. Although sometimes guns may be used to kill, it is the person that kills, and not the gun itself. The facts and statistics of America and other countries only prove that more guns are better for society and bring the crime rate
