Letter from Anne Bradstreet
Dear mom I am contacting you to inform you about how I have had a misstep in the road.
One summer night while I was sleeping I was wakened by a thunderous boom. I ran downstairs to check what was going on when all of a sudden I feel an immediate rise in temperature and light that almost blinded me. Before I could even turn on my house lights on I saw my living room on fire. I next saw the roof beginning to cave in on me. I immediately dashed to wake up my wife and kids I told them about what was currently going on and how we would have to move quickly or else we would be cooked. Just then I turned to them and told them to run and get all of their valuables and pictures and memorabilia... lastly we all headed towards the door and raced outside. Everyone was screaming and crying I tried to comfort them and I told them everything would be alright. Hours later my sister in law arrived with the car and my family jumped in and drove off, but I decided to stay and watch my house burn. I then thought to myself all of the memories that were in that house, all of the Christmases birthdays Halloweens and family get togethers were gone. I felt miserable, lost, forsaken I was an emotional wreck. But I think the thing that I will miss the most is the sweet smell of chocolate chip cookies in the morning. I will heal with time as you would say mother “time heals all scars.” I will focus on the good times not the bad. I will cherish the memories from that house. I know God is watching over me and my family through these hardships. God has blessed me with a house and family and will continue to over watch on us. I am going to be grateful and humbled and this is god’s way to teach me how to never take anything for granted. Sincerely, Ifeanyi Onwuazo
