Graduation Speech: Playing Soccer For Rivers Baptist Soccer Club
In 7th grade. I Played soccer for Rivers Baptist Soccer club we had won every game except for one game. We had 15 teammates ready to go and play the grand final the field was spectacularly green and very soft we were versing North Lakes Soccer club. Our coach Andrew had been training us, so we could get to this very point. 5 minuets before the game Andrew gave us a speech we then all listen to hear what our positions was going to be the whistle blew time to get out on the pitch.

Once we were 5 mins into the game we started to pick up our game. North lakes had he best start that we ever saw from them. Our defence was strong, strong enough so that North Lakes could not get through to our goalkeeper. The heat was insane even though it was in winter. In the first half we kept taking shots and missing them they either hit the goalposts or went over the crossbar towards the end of the first half we weren’t playing as hard as we were earlier. We were

We were running up the sideline of the field sprinting our hearts out just to get to the opponents goal, and as I ran up the sideline my coaches speech went through my head and how he told us not to give up. I passed the ball to one of our teammates and he passed it back to me as soon as I ran around a defender. I then passed to another teammates the one of the players on the opposing side went in to take the ball but had kicked his leg instead. The referee blew his whistle for a penalty kick which was really good because it was inside the goalie box. Our penalty shooter Elijah went and stood up at the penalty spot he walked back A couple of paces and as he took the shot the goalkeeper dived the other way and so Elijah won the penalty but even though we thought that was great we still knew that the game hadn’t

Everyone got in a line, and coach told us who was going to do the PKs. She called on Damien, Dominic, Evan, Bash, and me. Damien went up to the line while the other team's goalie got ready to block it. Damien kicked the ball right at the corner of the goal and the ball went in. We all cheered loudly and then waited tensely as Damien then got ready to be goalie. The other team's kicker went up to the line and kicked it right at Damien so he blocked it easily. Next, I was up to kick. I kicked it to the bottom left corner of the goal and…

After we warmed up it was time to play the final game. We were the home team so we were in the field first. I was playing center field and it was so hot outside that I felt like I was going to melt. When the umpire yelled, ”Play Ball!” I jumped up on my feet and was ready for the first pitch. On the very first pitch the batter hit the ball straight to me. I watched the ball go up in the air and I was putting my glove up in the air ready to catch the ball but then I lost track of it. My sunglasses did not help me with the sun. I was trying to find the ball, but then SMACK! The ball hit me straight in the mouth and I fell to the ground like a sack of…

A memory from my athletics that will stick with me forever was the last time I was able to lace up and play basketball on our home court. We played a long time rival, Aquin. The game was down to the wire and I was able to tie the game with 24 seconds left. Then we got the ball back and Ellie was fouled with about a second left, which if anyone on our team were to be put on the line, I would choose her. She went up and swooshed the first shot! Then, since Aquin wouldn't be able to get the rebound, make it down the court, and shoot with the time left, coach told her to miss the second shot. Ellie then winded up and chucked the ball right off the backboard so they ended up getting the ball out of bounds anyway. We blocked the throw in, and I ran…

The running back was right there. When I went in for the tackle I got hit. I dropped. Sitting there thinking "what the hell just happened". It turned out to be my buddy that smoked me in the head. I also remember the other team saying "ooooo". When I got up I didn't think to much of the hit but then a few plays later I soon got called off the field. When I got called off the field I was sweating hard. That being, I took off my football gloves. Next thing I know I looked down…

One day my coach pulled me to the side and told me I was going to be the quarterback for the game. I thought I was going to die! I never played quarterback so I was very nervous about messing up. I instantly became sick and thought about leaving the game. My mom was on the sideline, so I went over to her and told her about me being afraid to throw the ball. My mom grabbed me by the shoulders and told me to fight my fear, and focus on being the best quarterback the team ever saw. I turned around, got in the game, they passed me the ball, and I threw the ball directly…

We were playing Montgomry Bell Academy, MBA we called them. The first quarter wasn’t anything to speak about. By the beginning of the second quarter, the score was one nothing and we weren’t the ones winning. Anyone who has ever played lacrosse knows that even a one-point lead is a lot in this sport. It was the beginning of the second quarter and I was starting with a face-off. I crouched down in front of the other player, sweat dripping off his maroon jersey, our sticks were on the ground in front of us, with the ball between us, beckoning me to scrape it away. I was nervous because the other guy was bigger than me but I was excited to start playing. The ref yelling SET and blowing his whistle brought me out of my head and into the game. I stood straight up and pushed the other guy out of the way and tried to kick the ball away from him but he knocked me down. I…

The whole team was mad but there was no one to be at but ourselves. We stop playing our ball and it cause us to lose the game. That day was an eye opener for me. It was game day the field was rough and dry the goals were painted yellow, the burning hot sun was shining off our helmets. The team practiced so hard for this game it was the game that everyone wanted to see. It was only five bucks to get in. the coaches called all the players out on the intercom for the pre game meal, we were having some watermelon and some chicken and a potato it was very good. The chicken was the best. we started warming up when coach had called us down to the field. We had went over some offense and defense. When defense had went out on the field, we had worked on some pass blocks and some blitz plays. In my opinion pass block was my favorite. Everyone's pads was tied tight, cleats were wrapped with white tape, chin straps…

In seventh grade I wanted to tryout for volleyball. I was very nervous because I had never played it before. I was super happy when I found out all my friends and I made the team. We had a lot of practices in December to get ready for games in January. I was really nervous for our first game. Our first game was supposed to be right after christmas break ended, but we had a snow day so it was cancelled. I wished it hadn’t been so I could just get it over with, but i was gonna have to wait. We were scheduled for another game later that week. I woke up with a phone ringing and an answering machine saying that school was cancelled due to boiler issues. I sat in bed thinking I had once again gotten lucky and we had no game, I was wrong. We were…

This was one of the best teams in our league behind West-Genese and Fayetville-Manlius. We started the game off good and quickly jumped up to a 1-0 lead. Our goalie had 5 saves an our defense was holding against their offense very well. Our offense was passing the ball very well and made most of the shots they took. Ending the half the score was 3-1 us. Our coach was very proud of us and let us know that during half-time. Starting the second half off you could tell Cazenovia was upset because they started playing dirty. Then came a turning point of the game. Our goalie made a save and I was running down field to catch the ball. I turned around to catch the ball then as soon as I turned the other way I got hit hard and layed on the field knocked out for a few seconds. Coach Culandra ran out very quickly and told me to stay there while Kelly the trainer ran over. After try looked at me Kelly gave me a concussion test and then I noticed my helmet was shattered. No one ever thought the helmets could shatter like mine did. Kelly took me in and gave me a new helmet which I then used to finish the game off in. Sadly we lost…
