Goldstein War Is Peace
Goldstein goes on to explain why we should not see war as a negative impact but a positive one. He goes on to say war is not about taking land but it is to keep the structure of society intact and war should be continuous for there to be peace in the world. This is why one of the party’s slogans is “War is Peace” because they believe there can be peace in the world if there is war for years and years. In Goldstein’s quote, there is a repetition as he keeps on repeating the word “war” in every sentence. He does that because he is trying to re-address the definition of war saying it is not a bad thing but a good thing. This connects back to the thesis as Orwell is trying to predict more wars to come after WWII and governments will think differently

    Are all people born with some unknown evil inside them or does the world just slowly corrupt the innocent as they mature. In the novel A Separate Peace, the author, John Knowles uses a dual perspective on certain characters and events throughout the novel to help support the books main theme; the loss of innocence through growth into maturity. One example of this technique is seen through the comparison between the two rivers running on the Devon campus. "The Devon River represents goodness, beauty, even purity" (Mellard 58) while the "Naguamsett, associated with winter, suggests everything contrary to the spirit of Devon: it is ‘ugly, saline, fringed with marsh, ' and it is ‘governed by unimaginable factors '" (Mellard 58). The dualistic symbolism of the two rivers is seen through the contrasting personalities of Gene and Finny, the struggle between war and peace and the conflicting seasons of summer and winter which help to support the theme involving the timeless battle of good versus evil which.     “There was never a good war or a bad peace.” War, conflict between nations or fellow citizens with the use of arms. War is the most powerful threat we have on earth today.
