Who is part of “Generation Me?” The “Me” Generation is a self-centered, entitled group because they have not had to be responsible for their actions. They grew up in period of prosperity and innovation. This time in society has resulted in a generation that sees only itself. “The Generation Me is anyone born in the 1980,1990,s and 2000.”(Coscarelli, 2013)
Today’s kids feel that they are so entitled to everything, because either their parents have gave them anything and everything that they wanted. There are some people who think that they are entitled by the government. You hear things like the government owes me because of what was done to my ancestors, or I have paid my taxes and “I am entitled to the help”. Whereas now the country is in an economic loss and its hard just too sometime put food on the table in most homes across America. The society as a whole is not working like they used to in the 60’s and 70’s, when you got a job you kept until the person retired. Now in the Me Generation they go from job to job, to whatever makes them happy. “The information revolution has further empowered individuals by handing them the technology to compete against huge organizations: bloggers vs. newspapers, YouTube directors vs. studios.”(Irvin, M 2014) It is a different world to what it was in the 60’s and 70’s this group of individuals should try and remember where they come from.
