Freedom Of Speech In America
I am not the most patriotic person, but I love America and there are multiple Americans older, more mature and more wise than I am who take their time in appreciating and supporting America and the people who fight for our freedom. The people who support our troops overseas are of course gonna support them when they come home and not leave them homeless or without healthcare; that would be absurd. Not only are they going to bolster and salute the white male soldiers, they are going to do the same for women soldiers, gay soldiers, black soldiers, and other ethnicities other than caucasian because discrimination doesn’t exist in America only freedom does. However, there are many hypocrites such as the NFL players who are disrespecting our troops …show more content…
This is one of the most disrespectful uses of freedom of speech I have ever witnessed. This is a direct attack on dishonoring our soldiers fighting for for our freedom. They should be grateful soldiers are fighting for their freedom of speech, but instead they disgraced them. In order to solve this abruption we should take away celebrities freedom of speech and expression. The media gives them too much power and ability disrespect our country. The government will higher hacker specialists who will monitor social media at all times and delete any rude tweets or posts towards America. By eliminating these factors, we won’t have to worry about news reports being filled with screenshots of tweets about celebrities disrespecting President Trump or not saluting our troops we will finally be able to focus on important matters such as why guns make incredible protection. All the government needs now is donations to help pay for these specialists to regulate social media because their equipment is quite expensive and they need to able to make a living since they are keeping America safe from fake

Although, the United States of America will always be a great country, people that have once been called a hero have literally become an outcast. Any individual who gave their life for this country should always have the support, and honor, of this great nation. The U.S Government continuously turns their back on our veterans when they are homeless; have few opportunities once they are out of the armed services;…

For example, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, refuses to stand for the National Anthem during a preseason game with the Green Bay Packers (ijr). Also during the playing of the National Anthem at 2016 Super Bowl, Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newtown failed to remove his skullcap and hold his hand over his heart (ijr). I feel like not standing or taking off your hat while the National Anthem is one of the most disrespectful thing to do. If you can’t stand and give your respect to the people that fight for you and put their lives on the line for you, then you should leave this country. In March of 2016, Virginia Tech coach Buzz Williams was so irritated with how his players behaved during the National Anthem, so he brought in military veterans and had his players stand face-to-face with them.“These guys, when they were your age, interrupted their life, they paused their education, they changed their career, and they gave their life for those chairs,” he told his players(ijr). That is how every coach should tell their…

We are a nation that has always been for the people and by the people. We are known as the land of opportunity because of the amount of job opportunities, our voting processes, and our unlimited amount of patriotic citizens. There would no longer be that passion and drive of the American people if there were limitations enforced on their right to freedom of speech. Our society and population density would slowly decline overtime as the people have less say because that’s what separates us from the rest of the world. If we don’t have that, we aren’t truly a land of opportunity. America is just equal to every other nation. Where the people follow strict laws and have little to no say in the government that rules the land they love. George Washington once stated: “If freedom of speech is taken away. Then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter” (Washington). Arguably, this is what occurs in North Korea today. However, while we strive so hard to keep this inalienable right, we must now recognize the complications created with the newest forum for freedom of speech – the Internet. While we strive to protect our basic right, we could very well lose the country we love so much if we don’t develop censorship means to stop the spreading propaganda and recruitment by such evil forces as ISIS. Censorship by targeting such accounts is a must in order for our very…

When Francis Scott Key wrote the star spangled banner almost two hundred years ago, he called America "the land of the free and the home of the brave." Those words still stand strong today as they did back then. Throughout our history American soldiers, marines, air force, and coastguards have answered to defend for our freedom and rights. That is why we as Americans should respect our veterans and thank them for what they have done for all of…

Not many understand the importance of the roles that these American soldiers take responsibility of. It's truly saddening to see the uneducated not appreciate, honor, and thank our soldiers. An abundance of American citizens aren't educated or knowledged in American and International governmental and/or political affairs. With the lack of knowledge in this controversial topic, how are they to understand the important roles of our soldiers? We, as a nation, must help each other in understanding our country and the role of our soldiers. In returned favor for them, we must make it our duty, as they make it their duty to serve for us, to serve for these men and women by honoring and celebrating them.…

Long ago, it was stated and written in almost every way by America’s founding fathers that this country was for freedom. Is it a chore to say the Pledge? Is it reasonable to protest the very same military that protects the right to protest? Yes, America is a land of freedom, but just as money is earned, so is this freedom. Saying the Pledge embeds America in the the hearts of many. These people are called Americans. Supporting the military is supporting freedom. Anyone that claims to be some kind of “activist” or “visionary” is probably asking for attention. Of course, there…

A few months ago NFL Quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, Colin Kaepernick refused to stand for the National Anthem before a game. This act sparked a lot of controversy due to his lack of patriotism. Kaepernick claims that he took a knee during the Anthem in order to protest against the racial oppression and police brutality that he says has been consuming our country. To me, this is an example of anti-patriotism because if the men and women that fought for this country would have decided to not fight, then Kaepernick would not even have this NFL platform or the right to voice his opinion. On the other end of the spectrum we have Ray Chavez who is the oldest-known Pearl Harbor Survivor. We recently celebrated the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor with a ceremony in Hawaii to remember all the fallen lives of December 7th, 1941. Leading up to this ceremony, Ray Chavez, despite being 104 years old, exercised with a personal trainer in order to be able to walk during the ceremony. He gained twenty pounds of muscles that helped him make the trip to Hawaii and walk during this recognition. He did this to show his respect to those who gave their lives for the freedom of this country. The same freedoms that give Colin Kaepernick the ability to play professional football and the freedom to kneel during the national anthem. These two men have completely opposite views of what it means to be an American. My hope is that in the next few years that my generation will not forget the sacrifices that were made to ensure our freedom and can gain the patriotism that I feel has been lost. Everyone should feel proud to be an…

The first recorded use of the word America appears on a 1507 map created by German cartographers Martin Waldseemuller and Matthias Ringmann, in honor of Amerigo Vespucci, an early Italian explorer of the Caribbean. The term American was subsequently used by European settlers to describe the indigenous inhabitants of the New World and then later, themselves and their descendants.…

The social and political activist Abbie Hoffman once said “Free speech means the right to shout “theatre” in a crowed fire.” What Hoffman said explains exactly what having Freedom of speech is like. Freedom of speech is something every American is granted, yet many who do in fact speak their mind are ridiculed. Freedom of Speech is one of the many perks that an American has besides having individual liberty. Instead of using Freedom of Speech to help others around the world who do not have it, many people use it for the wrong reason and can lead to harmful outbursts. Throughout the course of History, Freedom of Speech has become progressively negative and people have begun to push the boundaries of the First Amendment rule while asking the…

The Freedom of Speech is crucial to the United States. This was the foundation to our newly formed country. Freedom of speech is everything to Americans. Without it, we would not have a say in the government. The Founding Fathers wanted the people to have about as much power as the government. That way, each side could not overrule the other . The Founders believed that freedom of speech was extremely important to have so that we could express our ideas and beliefs about the government. There are some issues and problems that are very hard to solve. Freedom of expression is one of them. Its hardship springs from the ambiguity of the term freedom itself. Philosophers always ponder on the question as to whether freedom has its own bounds, or it referres to the absence of any kind of restrictions. There are some people asserting that people can express themselves however they want, and all kinds of expression should be tolerated. However, In my opinion the way people express themselves determines the decision as to whether this expression is allowed or not.…
