Founder of Usaha Tegas
He is the founder of Usaha Tegas Sdn. Bhd. and he owns 70 per cent shares of Maxis. He also has a full, 100 per cent stake in Binariang Satellites Systems or BSS.
Ananda’s corporate image, Usaha Tegas is owned and managed solely by him. This company is described to be his investment and is run as a consulting organization with interest spanning into several sectors such as Communication, Broadcasting, Media and Energy. It is run by a board of advisers hand-picked by him based on their professional backgrounds and experience. Ananda Krishnan’s first entrepreneurial initiative was venturing into oil trading. He has set up Exoil Trading that procures oil drilling contracts in various countries. While maintaining his first entrepreneurial ventures, he progressed further with his horse race betting operation in Malaysia.

Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd in turn owns 33 per cent stake in Tanjong Plc, a 90 per cent stake in Maxis Communications Berhad, a 100 per cent stake in Measat Broadcast Network Systems. Tanjong Plc in turn owns 84 percent of shares Powertek Limited.
He also has a stake in Bumi Armada Berhad, the shipping company. Among the successful projects and bring the voucher is KLCC development project which is a partnership between Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd and Petronas.
Through its stake in Tanjong Plc, the Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd has an interest in the entertainment industry as the Tanjong Golden Village Cinemas. Both Powertek Berhad Tanjong Plc and each have a market capitalization of RM2.2 billion and RM1.2 billion.
