Amazon.com, world’s largest online retailer has started its India-specific operations through its newly launched website amazon.in. The introduction of 100% FDI in retail by the union government has enabled it to launch its operations here.

It will continue to operate junglee.com, its subsidiary and an online marketplace. Also, US based e-commerce giant will both operate as marketplace and retailer on its official site amazon.in.
Two days ago it introduced range of electronic goods on its site including links to more than 150 online retailers.
Surely, the booming e-commerce market in India is at an exciting phase. The market leader in India, Flipkart, having established its brand firmly here, is going to face a tough competition in the coming days from US based giant.
The nervousness is plausible from Flipkart’s rush to attract and entice more customers with heavy discounts on range of its products.

Last few days it has announced 80% discount on beauty-care products, 60% on wide ranging books, 50% on Puma and 30% on watches and much more and more!!

Amazon is not behind the race. With a formidable challenge ahead to replace Flipkart as the market leader, Amazon is offering to its visitors many freebies.

For example, on many products, one need not purchase goods worth more than Rs 499 to get free home delivery; It is offering 34000 kindle e-books absolutely free; Amazon is letting its visitors to download full free version of Kindle app for any device; and It offered its visitors to download free bestselling e-book absolutely free of cost every fortnight!

And guess what? Amazon will start selling Kindle Paperwhite in India from tomorrow (June 27). It will sell both 3G and Wi-Fi versions.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite
That’s not it: Amazon will sell Kindle Fire HD , a well received tablet in Indian markets on the same day.
