Suddenly, Johan heard a shout, "fire", and “fire". He turned back and saw fire at the end of the village. In no time, many people ran to the spot. It was burning with such intensity. Johan watched the house as fire engulfed(cover) it from all sides. There was fire everywhere; the roof was on fire, the doors and windows were on fire, fire was even coming out of the house through various openings, looking like a fire-breathing dragon was inside the house, puffing away vicariously (indirectly). All were trying to pour water on the fire. Some people threw water on the burning part of the roof. Some others went in to the rooms and brought many household things. The women and children were crying. It was a very cruel and dangerous sight.
Johan saw various fire fighters trying to put out the fire. Finally the blaze died down and darkness covered us. The house was totally razed (demolished). Only red-hot embers remained where they once stood. Fortunately, the fire claimed no life.
Johan regretted his act and asked for forgiveness. He vowed and promised that he would not commit the same mistake again. Once bitten twice shy.
