America’s fleet of vehicles has been solely reliable on fuel until the past 10 years. Today, vehicle companies are competing against each other for the pride of having the greenest car. Many people in the U.S. are happy with the cars they drive. They go fast, they are big, and nothing seems to be out of place. So why should rental cars use alternative fuels? This is the question being asked to Lotus Rental Cars CFO. By performing thorough research, the consultants will first present a comparison between gas vehicles and alternative fuel vehicles. As we progress through this essay, we will explore all the great alternatives modern technology has to offer, and the benefits of each.
Before the decision is made to add alternative-fuel vehicles to the Lotus fleet, it must be determined if AFV’s truly are a feasible option. We must first acquire an understanding of Alternative Fuel Vehicles. As discovered in our research, there are currently a wide variety of alternative-fuel vehicles being used today. Alternative Fuel Vehicles can operate on fuels such as gasoline, diesel, electric power, or a combination of both. Alternative fuels are easier to create, access, better for our environment, and are more of a cost efficient way to go.
Currently over a dozen alternative fuels are under development or in production for use in advanced technology vehicles and alternative fuel vehicles. Private sector and Government vehicle fleets are the main users of these vehicles and fuels, but consumers are very interested in using them. Using advanced vehicle and alternative fuels instead of regular vehicles and fuels helps America reduce petroleum and vehicle emissions.
Of the many different options for alternative fuel vehicles, there are three that are the most common in the vehicle market today. Hybrid Electric Vehicle’s (HEV’s) or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV’S) use the combination of electricity and internal combustion engines that require the use of

The idea behind the Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) was intended to reduce emissions (generated by burning fossil fuels) that are polluting our air and depleting the ozone. AFV’s also help reduce our dependence on foreign oil (mostly from a highly unstable region of the world). Prior to a decision being made whether or not to alternative fuel vehicles to the fleet of Lotus Rental Cars, we most determine if alternative fuel vehicles are actually a feasible choice. To do this we must first have an understanding of alternative fuel vehicles. Through our research, we have discovered that there are a growing number of alternative fuel vehicles on the road today. Alternative fuel vehicles are defined as any vehicle that can operate on a fuel or power source other than diesel or gasoline. These vehicles come in many different forms, from small commuter cars to larger commercial vehicles. The use of these alternative fuel sources greatly reduces out countries dependency on foreign oil and reduces air pollution caused by CO2 emissions (Gable & Gable, 2009).…

Lotus Car Rental (LCR) is on the move to making a very wise decision. LCR has successfully operated its business for a number of years. Today’s competition among Budget Car Rental, Avis, and Enterprise does not measure up to the services and advancement that LCR has displayed. With consumers making more advances toward environmentally friendly cars, alternative fuels for vehicles are a better choice. The assessment prepared for the Chief Financial Officer will display four primary components which will emphasize solid reasons for this decision to proceed. The components discussed are the pros and cons of alternative fueled vehicles, the availability of alternative fueled vehicles, and the cost comparison between hybrid and traditional gasoline powered vehicles.…

When deciding on a research question, I wanted to choose a topic that really interested me, so I chose obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). This topic has been used in my household for a long time as I was diagnosed with it at 5 years old. When doing this research I wanted to learn of other treatments and tools for people with OCD. This is very important because the spectrum of OCD cases varies significantly, so some of these people dealing with the disorder have a large decision to make when it comes to their treatment options. There is a stigma about people with obsessive compulsive disorder; they are thought about in negative ways and sometimes are even considered freaks. I feel that psychology focuses on this issue a lot because it is becoming more and more prevalent in our society, and it can pose as a great hindrance on someone’s life.…

Basically, it’s like some form of a Preventative of protection when it comes to society. But the real question here is: does society feel a sense of comfort when they know that a surveillance camera is watching every single move at any given moment? Of course they do. Surveillance cameras have multiple purposes to which they operate. Though their use may be considered spying, it benefits society greatly by a reduction of crime. Video surveillance has been proven to be successful in cities where many thieves amass, where suspicious individuals attempt to exploit proceedings for their own corrupt benefit, and also in neighborhoods with a high crime rate. A few examples of where surveillance can be utilized may include, but are not limited to: lowering the risk of suspicious activity, locating artifact that are on external grounds and understanding how the artifact arose in said location, and also it may be used as a simple means to give a sense of security to citizens especially in high risk situations such as banks. In many cases video footage is used in courts and even in public safety stations. Its success has been proven statistically. There are several reasons why video surveillance should be incorporated in our daily lives primarily for crime prevention, as evidence in crime scenes, and for public safety reasons.…

The controversy between diesel and petrol has grown with the automotive industry, and there are very many options for consumers to consider. As long as better fuel economy retains its trusted value for their consumers it will always remain a priority for automakers. Because of the miles per gallon advantage diesel vehicles enjoy over their gasoline counterparts, along with a reduction in noise, vibration, and harshness, the sales of diesel vehicles have enjoyed a rebound since all but are disappearing in the U.S. in the late 1980s and 1990s.…

In the next few years the impact of petroleum (fossil fuel) burning vehicles on the environment will only get worse. We need to reduce our dependence of imported oil, we can do this by utilizing alternative fuels that are derived from resources other than petroleum. Some of these resources are renewable and can be produced here in the United States. With all of the technology we have available today we have to start using it. We need alternative fueled vehicles more than ever with rising fuel costs, and a dwindling fuel supply, because gasoline engines omit emissions which aid in Global Warming. As the temperature continues to rise, sea levels rise, the oceans temperature rises, echo-systems will fail, agriculture will suffer, disease will spread, and natural disasters will increase such as: floods, droughts, hurricanes, wild fires will all be at record highs. To ignore the devastating effects possible from global warming would be futile. Green house gasses have to be lowered now to avoid catastrophe. It is imperative new alternative fuel sources emerge immediately to avoid the inevitable. There has been consistent research and development to help diminish our dependency on foreign oil. Some of the ideas presented are new while some are out of the past such as: steam, air, electric, robotic, hydrogen, solar, flying cars, under water cars, and computer cars. Once auto makers get on board in full stride and emerge, competition erupts between automakers, and we finally see the results of their efforts. In the near future automobiles with internal combustion engines will still dominate our roads, as auto makers continue to improve fuel efficiency in these cars everyone drives. The EPA estimates an increase in fuel efficiency of 30% over cars produced 15 years ago. The…
