Film Analysis: Regina George
The character that will be described as a consumer in a detailed analysis is Regina George. Regina George is a sixteen year old female teenager in High School whose reputation is built off of being the popular girl and is known for her appearance and all her nice belongings that she has, including her lavish car that she drives. Regina does not have an occupation and resides at home in her mansion along with her wealthy family. In order to support her wealthy lifestyle, Regina prefers to have the finer things in life, which is provided through the use of her family’s money in which she is given. Regina and her family’s social class would be considered the Lower-Upper Class segment. From a psychographic standpoint, Regina George enjoys hanging out all the mall with her friends and …show more content…
Janis Ian is a character that attended the school in the film and was the complete opposite of the girls in the Plastics clique. Over the years, Janis developed strong negative feelings towards the leader of the Plastics clique, Regina, and these feelings carry on throughout the film. Being that attitude can be described as an overall evaluation that expresses how much we like or dislike a person as well, this is where components of Attitude comes in. Janis believed that Regina George was an evil, manipulative person who had no feelings and only cared about herself. Janis’s beliefs caused her to feel a certain way towards Regina, which was negative and she strongly disliked her due to her past experience with the Plastics leader and the rumors Regina spread about her. Janis’s beliefs and feelings towards Regina caused her to behave in ways that expressed her disdain towards her, which was vocally expressing her thoughts about her and convincing her new friend Cady to befriend the Plastics in order to find out information and secrets about the

    As consumers our experience of consumption today is exponentially different from that at the turn of the twentieth century in the recently urbanised and industrialised modern nation. Consumer culture is traditionally described in terms of the arrival of mass consumption as a counterpart to mass production as a result of the Fordist system (Miles, S). Choice is one of the biggest factors of the changing experience for consumers, during the 1950’s after the austerity years the now aging baby boomers were part of large scale changes to consumption patterns. For example as women began to enter the work place leaving less time to run the home, products were being developed to ease the burden of housework, washing machines, fridges and vacuum cleaners were among these products; the ever-growing use of hire purchase to enable consumers to afford these luxury products, combined with Fordist methods of mass production reducing the manufacturing cost of the products allowed the economy to grow strong once again. As television grew in popularity advertising was increasingly utilised by businesses to sell their products creating a far more impersonal environment while shopping for products. From this time the standard of living has been increasing up until present day (The Economist, 2008) with the aspirations of society increasing further still.…
