Things are going well. I hit the ground running. Working on final approval for the department charter. Working on the risk assessment and identifying all the areas for the universe. Early next week I should have a list of all the auditable areas and start working on sending risk assessment surveys out. My goal is to get the risk assessment done by end of November and get an audit plan done early December. Nobody expects it until sometime in January; however, you know how I like to be an over achiever.

That's a little more challenging. I have conducted the first round of interviews and I'm going to interview one candidate one more time; however, may decided not to hire him. Another I like; however, she has no finance or accounting background. I just wish I could combine the two candidates and I would have one good one. I get another batch of applicants first week of November. I hope it is a better batch. The title of the positions hurts Field Auditor 2 (Senior Auditor) and Field Auditor 3 (Internal Auditor). That's just the classification they can be called anything; however, it hurts because it's what's indicated on the job description. Additionally, they posted the minimum salary of $33K & 30K which I'm going to pay a lot more than that which of course hurts things. Auditor role and have the state recruiter on it. Again I think working with HR to to fix the minimum salary issue will help. We will see with the next round of applicants. I'm going to push them to work with the universities to get some good candidates for the Internal Audit job (December graduates). As for the Senior Auditor it will be an uphill battle but I hope to hire good auditors (2 years experience) who I can train to be good Senior's. My goal is to get a team in place sometime in January; however, having a full department at that time may be
