Feminist Persuasive Speech Outline
English Exposition draft
Topic of choice: Feminism
Introduction
Hello, my name is Dona and today I’m going to persuade you to become a feminist. What does the word feminist mean to me? The word feminist means to me is for both genders to become equal. For both genders to be treated equally in a society that doesn’t judge so harsh on males and females. Feminism is not a divisive term. It’s not a label to separate one gender from another. Not a term for putting another gender against another. Women make up half the Australian population and we still aren’t treated equally.
I’m going to show you video on YouTube called ‘Always like a girl.’ This video compares what it means to be a girl to a child vs an adult’s perspective. So when did being like a girl become a bad thing? We are taught from a young age “doing things like a girl” is a bad thing. For example running like a girl, punching like a girl, swimming like a girl. We’re are brainwashed from a young age that girls aren’t good enough, This video, in my opinion, shows to the young demographic that being a girl is always a bad thing and that’s exactly what society wants young girls to think. That they are lower than men, that they are supposed to objects for the opposite gender. For centuries females have been oppressed by society and across the world shown a strict path than males. Even though the feminist movement is largely about women it most certainly includes men too.

Society makes outs self-reclaim us to be whining and complaining women who absolutely hate men, that’s definitely not true. Some like to declare feminist to be man-hating, dominating men or making women the supreme ruler of the planet it’s the laziest defence people have had against this powerful

According to the dictionary, feminism is the advocacy of women’s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. This means that what a feminist wants is not a matriarchal society where men are oppressed by domineering women, but equality for women. This doctrine has existed for many years, and it first became prominent during the late eighteenth century. However, if we are to explore how feminism affects society today, we must focus on its more recent history. Specifically, the “second wave” of feminism which arose during the 1950s and 1960s. This new feminist movement arose a few years after the publication of The Feminine Mystique by Betty Friedan. This book struck a nerve with the American housewife, and caused many to question if all a woman was capable of doing was merely cooking, cleaning, and pleasing her husband. In 1966 Friedan and others formed an activist group named the National Organization for Women, or NOW. This group demanded equal pay for equal work and enforcement of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibited discrimination in employment due to race and/or gender. As the feminist movement progressed, more and more women began to stand up for their rights, until in 1980, when women comprised the majority of undergraduates. But enough with history, how does feminism exist in our society today? First we must take a look at how feminism is perceived. According to…

"How would you feel if, in front of all the players, your coach told you were playing like a girl?" a 12 years old boy responds "It would destroy me." For decades’ women have been degraded and given unfair treatment due to their gender, because men announce themselves that they are superior and women are interior, and they are the property of men. Women always suffered from discrimination of men, they were unequal when it came to jobs, politics, sports, and many other things because men put them self’s ahead of women in everything. These are some of the reasons that started the feminism a war between men and women, the idea of feminists that hates men is a lack of knowledge of what feminism truly means.…

I read Feminism for everybody Written by Bell hook, she tries to explain the definition of feminism which is a movement to end the oppression of sexism which is the discrimination, and how men usually use force against women, not as many people believed that it is anti-male. Both males and females have been socialized from their birth and females can be sexist as males. Also to achieve the feminism, we need to end racism and imperialism, males and females should create a beloved community to achieve freedom and justice. women should free themselves from men domination in work force and they…

With their example, we have found a way to create common ground among women and fight together. This brings around the word feminist. The term feminism is something that is not new to the women’s fight; but, is a term and an identification that has become more popular within the past few years. Men and boys also suffer from things like domestic violence. Those who are abused, are told that they’re ‘weak’ and need to ‘man up’. Things like this tells men, not only that they should act a certain way, but also that treating people badly is okay if their different. Which leads to bullying. This is done by implying that ‘like a man’ is better than being 'like a woman'. Men who are abused by their partners are seen as jokes. This is because a lot of people have the idea that men need to be ‘strong’, ‘manly’ and ‘unemotional’. Because being anything close to a woman is apparently an insult. And contrary to popular belief, feminism fights for men too. Feminism is about equality, not one gender being better than the other. Men are assaulted and abused because of sexism. They are laughed at for wearing skirts or dresses. But do you know who mostly does this to them? Its other men. Men are the ones insulting other men for being ‘weak’, because that’s being ‘like a…

This crop of women and in some cases men, are so obsessed and desperate about being viewed as “feminist advocates” that they go the extra mile to dish out half-truths and at times outright fabrications in the name of feminist advocacy. These days, we are not even sure what feminism, or gender equality is anymore. From the last I checked, Feminism is aimed at defining, establishing, and ensuring equal social (religious, education, dressing, etc), political, and economic rights for women. Feminism was largely an offshoot of the era of female disenfranchisement, inequality in employment and payscale, gender neutrality in language (French, English and other major European languages), rights to property and other forms of inequality in a then largely patriarchal world.…
