The great Eleanor Roosevelt once said "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along." Confidence is something many teens and young adults are lacking today, some say it is due to all the new technology that we have. Because of the new technology we have, some teens today who are socially deprived. Sadly the only way someone can express their true feelings about something is behind a computer. Who would Martin Luther King Jr. have been if he had not spoken out on equal rights, who would Fredrick Douglas have been if he had not taken a stand and fought to abolish slavery . Truth is they would have been nothing, nothing but a sad, hopeless person holding in what was meant to set them free. Martin Luther King, Jr., Fredrick Douglas, Rosa Parks, Ida B. Wells-Barnett .. all these men and women have something in common they all are fearless, they hold a great level of confidence in themselves. Because of their confidence they have made history, and made the day brighter for many generations to come.
Think about all the postive outcomes our generation could get if we had more confidence in ourselves and our work. Their would be less kids, commiting suicide, less kids smoking pot and belittling themselves, more kids speaking out in class, showing their true intelligence. Confidence could birth a whole new prospective, and a way of life among us teens.
Today as Future Business Leaders of America I believe that we must strengthen the confidence of students in themselves and their work. Why should this be done you may ask? Because in today society we are in need of someone who is going to stand out, and stand up for what is right! We need to rise up as a generation of young adults who are confident in our selfs and our beliefs! How can this be done some of you might ask? Well first we need
