Four out of fifty states have passed laws requiring some officers to wear body cameras. Oklahoma is not yet one of them. The Sooner State currently has a law that if body cameras are worn all camera data is released to the public under the open record law. This law does not require the officer to be equipped with the camera. It states that if footage is recorded the police may be able to temporarily withhold the records from the public, had the footage not contain a death or violence to a person not caused by an officer. NewsOk states that governor Mary Fallin passed this law in 2015. Although I think Oklahoma does have a decent law in tact I think that stations throughout the state should still be required by law to have most if not all active officers wear body cameras.…

Many animals have better night vision than humans do, the result of one or more differences in the morphology and anatomy of their eyes. These include having a larger eyeball, a larger lens, a larger optical aperture (the pupils may expand to the physical limit of the eyelids), more rods than cones (or rods exclusively) in the retina, and a tapetum lucidum.…

The Impact of Mere Exposure Effect on Visual Stimuli Discussion This experiment tests whether visual exposure positively alters preference for the test visual stimuli and secondly, the impact of repetitive exposure on the preference. The results support both the hypotheses – that conscious (supraliminal) and unconscious (subliminal) exposure increase liking towards the test visual stimuli and secondly, increasing the number of exposures positively correlates with affinity for the stimuli. The two hypotheses were tested using visible and suppressed geometric visual patterns. The data attained showed decreasing preference for the stimuli in the following order of exposure – conscious, unconscious and no prior exposure. The findings indicate that the impact is least in the nonexposed, less but still present in the subconscious exposure and most in the conscious, leading to the deduction that affinity for a stimulus occurs even without conscious cognition, the mere exposure effect, which is explained in greater detail below. The first hypothesis is supported by Kunst-Wilson and Zajonc (1980), who tested the relationship between unconscious exposure and preference, and showed that positive reactions towards test stimuli were quicker for affect compared to cognitive, which led to the conclusion that liking is formed more affectively, and less cognitively. The second hypothesis is consistent with studies by Newell and Shanks (2007), which conclude that greater exposure induces recognition, which in turn, increases familiarity and fosters a higher preference towards accustomed shapes. This concept is known as the mereexposure effect (Zajonc, 1968). Results of this experiment can be attributed to the perceptual fluency model in which repeated and long exposure duration enhances overall fluency of processing visual stimuli and creates a preference effect (Newell & Shanks, 2007). Hence, both the hypotheses in this experiment are coherent with previous research,…

I was exposed to drug dealers, prostitutes, violence, fights, police raids and shooting while growing up in the projects. The excessive exposure was normal for us kids, to be surrounded by it all was just a way of life for us. As I got older, I began to hate growing up in the projects because I realized how different my upbringing was compared to my classmates. I was jealous of my friends with functional families, married parents, siblings in college and a house that was paid off. In addition, I noticed how different I was from my friends in the projects. I enjoyed school and doing homework, them on the other hand, disregarded homework to play outside. It was at that point when I realized I wanted better for myself, my friends and even future…

Chromatography is used to separate mixtures of substances into their components. All forms of chromatography work on the same principle that they all have a stationary phase (a solid or a liquid supported on a solid) and a mobile phase where liquid or a gas is involved. The mobile phase flows through the stationary phase and carries the components of the mixtures with it. Different components travel at different rates. In paper chromatography, the stationary phase is a very uniform absorbent paper. The mobile phase is suitable liquid solvent or mixture of solvents.…

The factors which makes Iddan, an engineer with no medical background, to pioneer the development of wireless endoscopy are he as an electo-optical engineer and was working on developing the “eye” of guided missile to its target. His friend at boston gave him information about technology used for viewing the interior lining of the digestive system which had lots of limitations, specially with viewing the small intestine. This small intestine causes serious disorders and only in United States approximately 19 million people suffer from disorders. Existing technology like X-ray and endo-scopes were unable to identify or investigate about small intestine. So the only option left was surgery and which was very crucial if the physician does not know which part of the small intestine is affected. So his friend encourages him to come up with better technology. Due to technology revolution after decade small video cameras which uses image sensors like CCDS (Charge coupled devices) has been developed. With his knowledge from developing the eye of guided missile he tried to make small missile like device which could travel through the intestine without a life line leading to the outside of the body and transmit images wirelessly to a receiver outside of the body. He has also done small experiment on chicken with his developed camera and as he succeeds he got more encouragement but he found battery of that camera get exhausted in few minutes. So he developed a prototype CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductors) which only consume a fraction of power then CCD and applied for an initial patent on this camera device. Gaviel Meron the CEO of Applitec Ltd., company which makes small endoscopic cameras had founded Given Imaging (GI – gastrointestinal, V – video, EN – endoscopy) to develop and market the technology. Also on joining with Dr. Swain’s team who was working on…

Taking pictures is the world's most popular hobby. We use it to document family milestones, capture beauty, reveal the ugliness of war, and stalk celebrities. Photography has changed the world way more than any other thing in the media (because photography is used in film and television). Our world no longer has its focus on words and paintings, but now it is focused on the photograph. There are several effects on how photography has changed the world: the civil war, social network, medicine, outer space, and society.…

Laura is married to her husband John, a marriage where John is very dominating and John finds contentment by being violent towards Laura, and she is taking the violence lying down, she had resigned herself. Laura is only spoken when spoken to, and her relationship with John, most of all reminds of something that belongs to the past. “She wishes she could protest, but has forgotten how” This is a good example of how she cannot stand up for herself, but it also shows us that it not always has been this way. Before she met John she was a lively, independent girl, who could make everybody laugh. It was first when she met John she became the women she is now, the only thing remaining from her time before John is this gemstone called tiger eye stone, who gives her hope in hard times. Laura’s marriage has reduced her from being a popular girl to a simple object with no liberty, and she is very sad and frustrated about this especially because she married John of pity in the first place. During the story Laura develops from being this cowed wife, who does not have guts to even answer her husband, into a new more independent Laura, who shows his husband her back.…
