Duracell Power-Mat
ABSTRACT
In the future we vision the Duracell Power-Mat being able to charge more devices at a time and even at a greater distance. With the advancement in technology it may not take long before this is achieved. We can see our idea being used in homes, offices, cars, coffee shops, and even grocery stores while you are waiting at the checkout lane.

INSERT PROJECT TITLE
PRESENT TECHNOLOGY
The Power mat transfers electrical power using a magnetic field which is generated into electrical power through power receivers and charges your cell-phone without any cords being connected to your device. First you will need to get the power mat case in order for the power mat to be compatible with your device. Currently the cases are only out for Samsung Galaxy Series as well as the Apple iPhone 4(s) and 5. Connect your Power mat to the electrical outlet which will then create a small magnetic field on the device. Simply place your device on the mat it will start charging. Using SMART technology it knows how much power to send and when to stop charging the device.
.
HISTORY
The first power mat was established in 2006 by a man named Ran Poliuakine. First Power mat products were out on the shelves in 2009. Shortly after Power mat partnered with Proctor & Gamble and made the Duracell Brand Power mat.
FUTURE TECHNOLOGY
Every phone will have the wireless charging case technology that will be compatible with the Power mat. The magnetic field of electricity can charge your phone from a further distance so people can use their phone and charge it at the same time. We also vision docks with speakers being implanted into the power mat so you can listen to music and be able to charge your device using one device.

BREAKTHROUGHS In order to be able to make our new technology possible, we would have to find a way to make a stronger electric current and be able to make it turn into a larger magnetic field so it can charge the devices from a distance. We

NEAR FIELD COMMUNICATION allows wireless communication and the exchange of data between digital devices, like smart phones. NFC is somewhat like Bluetooth at first glance. NFC is an extension of radio-frequency identification (RFID) Except NFC is designed for devices that are close in proximity. There are three forms of NFC technology all are similar but communicate in different ways. These include types A, B and, FeliCa. FeliCa is frequently found in Japan. Devices using NFC may be active or passive. A passive device like an NFC tag is like a sign it is designed to transmit information. An active device like a smart phone would not only be able to gather information from things like NFC tags but could also change the information on the tag if authorized.…

Politics first began working their way into wireless electricity in 1905, when J.P. Morgan pulled all of his funding from Nikola Tesla’s Wardenclyffe Tower project when he erroneously began to believe that it could lead to free electricity for all (Haliburton, 2006). It is that same type of thinking that has helped to keep wireless electricity out of the mainstream for so long. However, information and general knowledge about wireless electricity has come far, and that type of thinking is quickly disappearing.…

ANALYSIS OF PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AT DELL COMPUTER CORPORATION Abstract Dell’s Portable Division, headed by Mark Holliday, had reached a decision point in the development of its new laptop computer. Holliday had to decide, or reach consensus on, what kind of battery Dell would put into its new line of laptop computers. It was the second try for Dell in the laptop market. The first attempt had failed due to technical problems, costing the company $20 million in development expenses alone. After the failed earlier attempt, Dell structured the development process, requiring decision points to be added. In addition, cross-functional teams were required to ensure communication among disciplines. In spite of the new development approach, the teams usually did not embrace the new process. As part of the laptop development, market research revealed a list of features that were important to customers. One of those features was battery life, which as it turns out, ranked #3 only behind price and microprocessor choice. Earlier that year, Michael Dell was meeting with a supplier when a “soon to be” battery technology known as “LiOn” was introduced to him. LiOn was chosen as the name due to the use of a lithium ion as opposed to the traditional metal hydride in the battery. The LiOn battery was expected to significantly extend the battery life between charges. The Michael Dell saw it as an opportunity to set their laptop apart from the competition by being the first to capitalize on the technology. As good as it sounded, the LiOn battery was not a sure thing. This paper discusses the decision faced by Holliday and the laptop development…

With mobile phones becoming a basic part of life, the recharging of mobile phone batteries has always been a problem. The mobile phones vary in their talk time and battery stand by according to their manufacturer and batteries. All these phones irrespective of their manufacturer and batteries have to be put to recharge after the battery has drained out. The main objective of this current proposal is to make the recharging of the mobile phones independent of their manufacturer and battery make. In this paper a new proposal has been made so as to make the recharging of the mobile phones is done automatically as you talk in your mobile phone! This is done by use of microwaves. The microwave signal is transmitted from the transmitter along with the message signal using special kind of antennas called slotted wave guide antenna at a frequency is 2.45 GHz. There are minimal additions, which have to be made in the mobile handsets, which are the addition of a sensor, a Rectenna, and a filter. With the above setup, the need for separate chargers for mobile phones is eliminated and makes charging universal. Thus the more you talk, the more is your mobile phone charged!
