I do believe the United States was an imperialistic nation due to the fact that they needed to expand and grow their territorial possessions. Imperialism is defined as “the economic, military and cultural philosophy which states that the United States, either directly or indirectly, affects and controls other countries or their policies.” (lumenlearning.com) In order to gain control, it was important to constantly gain more land over time.
