Evaluating Leadership Position

I have been fortunate enough to experience the opportunity of being in a leadership position during my working experiences. These opportunities have prepared me proficiently to evaluate my own potential of being a leader. I was always eager to serve a student organization because of its beneficial impact on leadership skills and student experience. This became possible when I was the President of Journalism Society during my undergraduate studies at Forman Christian College. Acting as the chief executive, I made a team of 15 members and with their consent I planned out activities for whole year and prepared budget of society. I always encouraged their creativity and innovation to make them feel that they are being empowered. A cornerstone in my leadership was to instruct my team members what to do, not how to do it. This enabled every individual to devise their own solution and then advising them strengthened their confidence and trust on me. Arranging one of biggest MUN Conference of Pakistan was core responsibility for which I served as Director General. Being most prestigious event of college, it was essential to carry out every planned proceeding efficiently and effectively. To begin with, I formulated a team of hundred members by interviewing students and choosing best person for best job in consistent with my co-executive members. After that I drafted a plan of action, divided the whole team into eight departments assigning team leads respectively, defined their roles and responsibilities and scheduled weekly meetings for work evaluation. I remained proactive and supported every member listening to their problems and challenges in order to gain their trust and confidence.
