Abstract Confidentiality is very important in the the legal aspect and in the healthcare profession. The review and summary of the video dealing with the topic confidentiality gives counselors and future counselors the understanding of the issues with confidentiality. The paper will also review the State of Delaware and the American Counselor Association in comparison to the issues in confidentiality. The reaction of the author would be in understanding the issues in confidentiality and how the author will apply these principles in his future carrier.
Ethical Vignette Confidentiality is a very important in the realm of counseling and within the entire health care system. This paper will review and summarize the video on confidentiality in reference to the aspect of the law given by Greg Sommers. Then this paper will compare the rules and laws of the American Counselor Association and the State of Delaware. The author will then give his reaction on the topic confidentiality and the rules/laws regarding confidentiality.
Video Summery In the field of health care including social workers, counselors, and therapists must follow set statuettes placed by each state that they reside in the “duty to report.” In the first portion of the video legal and ethical issues for mental health professional dealt with the difficulties and responsibilities of professional health workers to report abuse. In the first section of the video a case involving a young child being taken to the hospital unconscious. The boy recovered but the nurse noticed bruises on the child 's back. The nurse asked the foster parents about the bruises and they stated it came from the car seat. The nurse believed the foster parents and did not report abuse to authorities. Soon after the child was killed. The prosecution charges the nurse with failure to report however the nurse
