Essay On The National Anthem
Every Sunday, players in the NFL have started to protest the National Anthem, which has created much controversy in our country. Personally, I firmly feel those NFL players created this protest for the right reasons. Their protest leads me to believe in their cause for equality. Those who play in the NFL have an influential voice that can call for others to join in for change. This protest allows me to identify the problems within America, and drives me to join the cause and use my voice. When Colin Kaepernick first took a knee for the National Anthem, I thought he was absolutely crazy. Normally, everyone stands with their right hand over their heart, and what Colin Kaepernick did felt unusual and wrong. As an American citizen, I felt insulted that someone was disrespecting the flag. As time went on and I was able to read into his situation more, I started to believe in what he was doing was right. He was taking a knee as a result of all the injustices going on in our country, and he did not want to stand and take pride in a country which oppresses …show more content…
With that being said, they have a large voice and impact on society. They are being leaders by example by not doing something for the right reason even if it means being looked down upon. Instead of using violence, they created a peaceful way to protest. It genuinely moves me to witness all different players of different backgrounds, races, and color come together for a cause for the better. Different people unifying as one inspire others and myself. It gives me hope to someday picture a world of true equality. Being a white male in today’s society, I do not think that society treats everyone as equals. I firmly believe African Americans and people of other cultures are still being oppressed. The NFL protest has made me want to join the cause and use my voice for a call for change because everybody everywhere needs to make the call for

I do not support nor do I oppose Kaepernick's actions. I do understand that the American flag is a very important symbol to our great country but i also believe that people may express their point or how they feel( the freedom the speech). Kaepernick said that the reason he didn't stand was to prove a point about America and about racism against color people. I personally have experiencioned racism towards me in many occasions and it is very offending. So I see how he is trying to tell people it's a serious issue in his own way. When I first read this artical I thought of the situation in Texas, about the police men who killed three black people. I think if he doesn't what to stand he doesn't have to because his has rights as a human the express…

It all started with Colin Kaepernick 13 months ago, he sat during the National Anthem to protest against police brutality. Then he started to kneel so that he could show more respect to the troops, but that became the iconic symbol for the protesters to show respect but “not to take pride in the country that oppresses black people and people or color”. The protesting now is a direct resistance to Donald Trump ever since he decided to weigh in on the subject. Most the the protesters are kneeling but there have been some who just stay in the locker room until the National Anthem is over, some people are standing but raising…

Think about George Washington racing onto the battlefield, trying to fight for our independence. He risked his life for us to have a free country. They raised the star and striped covered flag with honor during every battle. But now, that flag is not being treated with honor as it should be. Recently, a number of NFL football players have taken a knee during the National Anthem. This action disrespects the men who proudly wear the flag on their sleeve and who fight for us everyday. This also tears apart the unity of our nation and two separates us into two groups with many different opinions; people who support this action, and people who do not. Finally, it also disrespects the flag itself and what it represents. Therefore, many may argue that kneeling during the National Anthem helps call attention to police violence and the killing of unarmed citizens, a closer examination shows that kneeling during the National Anthem disrespects the military,…
