On November 19, 1493, Christopher Columbus found Puerto Rico accidently. He was look for food, supplies, and a place to rest. He named the island San Juan Batista. After he left no one visited the island. Juan Ponce de Leon arrived to the island fifteen years later. Juan Ponce de Leon brought destruction to the island. In the nineteenth century, the island reached its highest point of suffering with the importation of salves and the demand of sugar and coffee. Slavery was finally abolished in 1873.
In 1898, Puerto Rico was handed over to the United States after defeating the Spanish and putting an end to the Spanish Rule. The US formed a military government and the health care facilities, postal services, bridges, and infrastructures improved. Puerto Rico also gained freedom. The Jones Act was implemented in 1916, which allowed Puerto Rico to remain a part of the United States and local leadership.
The store that I visited was the Latin Supermarket located in Valrico near Home Depot. The parking lot in big, however, parking is always limited due to the customers that go to this store. The store is huge and caters to many. This store has a jewelry shop, money can be sent internationally, cell phones are sold, it has a restaurant, bakery, meat department, produce department, groceries and a hair salon.
