Probation and parole officers are a real important component of the criminal justice system. Although there are several community corrections the most well-known community systems are probation and parole. However, the service quality probation and parole have evolved over there years. Also, probation and parole are experiencing current challenges confronting the service quality approach. The parole and probation system have significantly has evolved throughout the years. The meaning of parole is the conditional release of a prisoner that under the supervision of a police officer after serving a period of incarceration. The lack of funding’s that both administrations receive by the government is not enough to maintain an administration working properly. Most of the governmental funds goes towards the prisons. Allen and Sawhney concluded that since 1985, prison population have more than doubled, as have their budgets, staff, and facility space. The government is spending more money on keeping low class criminals in jail, instead of punishing the individual with probation. Also, changing demographics in offenders has altered the parole service. Judge no longer provide feedbacks of the success of inmates. Previously, inmates where actually judged on their accomplishment in completing rehabilitation program. Lastly, the implement of a “size fits all” towards probation and parole is a current issue. Probation and parole implemented the theory “size fits all”, which states that regardless of the crime committed every individual should be punished in the same manner. Allen and Sawhney concluded that instead of honoring the intended focus of individualized justice brought forth by probation and parole, where each case was analyzed and then determined by the circumstance of the offence.
