When I first thought about my Research Project topic I knew that I wanted to do something that had something to do with my family and myself. That is why I chose to do Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (POCS). My mum has this condition and it is thought that I have it as well. I know that mum does not know much about this condition, only the symptoms. As I grew up I had found that I was starting to get dark patches on my skin, I thought this was normal as my mum also had these patches. I got a little older and my mum explained to me what was really happening. She explained what she had and how these patches are normal for someone having these conditions. I would like to show statistics and charts showing my research. I would also like to ask people how they feel about their condition. I also plan to use Internet websites to gather information. I also want to use primary sources such as surveying my mum and doctors and/or nurses associated with PCOS. I also plan on using secondary sources, such as medical journals, so that I get a background of what the condition is and the effects that are caused by this syndrome. I have also looked at the local library website to borrow any books that are related to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Books that are related to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome could include recipe books, information books and medical journals.

The Research Project will help me develop the literacy capability as I will be talking and interviewing many people. This will involve planning and preparing questions for interviews and reading and analysing books, medical journals, websites and dieting books.
