Mob Mentality is when people are influenced by their peers to adopt certain behaviors. When others are committing a certain activity, people in the group that normally won’t commit those activities will just because others are. I feel like in all situations, this is true, no one in a group wants to be that outlier that's not doing what everybody else is. People don't want to be different than than other people. It can turn an individual into a completely different person. I had some rather small experiences with this like when a group of people at a table in the cafeteria started clapping, the rest of the cafeteria including me, started clap, no one knew why but they just did it just because everyone was. However, mob mentality can’t just be applied for these small actions, it can even be for when kids join in together to beat and even kill a man.
A group of kids from ages 10-18, united together to beat an adult man to death. All of this started will. One boy, aged 10, had of all things, an egg and he gave it to a 13 year old where he tossed it at a man. Without hesitation, anyone would say that grown men beating a child is just inhumane and disgusting. No grown man should go as far as beating a child while he’s on the ground. And the men even go as far as shoving the boy’s head into the ground multiple times, as an adult, they have to look at this situation and realize that they’re beating a kid and they have to stop. But because of mob mentality, they didn’t stop, the rest of the men didn’t stop should why should I, they didn’t want to stop because the others didn't stop.
