Essay On Maya Angelou Leader
What are the characteristics of a true leader? A true leader is a person who is able to share painful experience with the world. Many authors are not willing to share their personal life with billions of people, well Maya Angelou is my definition of a true leader. She is very intelligent and is a great person that many children look up to. She was born as Marguerite Johnson on April 4th, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri. Only a true leader can express their life experience to everybody. Maya Angelou shared her personal tradict moments with over a billion people.
One of her famous books was “I know why the caged bird sings”. Maya Angelou wrote “I know why the caged bird sings” because she wanted plenty of people to know what she had went through. She wrote this for man of reasons; one was as a reminder to not to give up during the trials of growing up. This book was one of the first of her five volumes of her life. I know why the caged bird sing was recreating a child's voice and what some children go through because growing up with young parents. Many say that young black woman …show more content…
She wrote “still I rise” to prove to people that no matter what they won't bring her down. No matter how hard people lie and how her sassiness might upset a lot of people. The poem “The Lesson” was one of many people's favorites it explains on how dying inside from getting raped or going through family problems. Cold hearted people are always the leaders because Maya Angelou was very cold hearted and didn't want to see people go through what she went through. Maya Angelou was a Phenomenal woman, she really didn't know her life after all that she has been through. She had to realize that she can help other young woman become phenomenal woman to. Her mother was barely at home due to her getting raped her mother never left the house unless someone was there to watch them. Maya Angelou always lead her siblings to do good

    Her friends were speaking out against prejudice and Maya wanted to contribute so she quit show business. She went to a fundraising rally for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference at the Harlem Church. Hearing Martin Luther King Jr. inspired her. She volunteered to write a script for a play, her organizational skills were noticed by others and lead into the center of the civil-rights movement. At 32 years old she became a full-fledged civil-rights worker. She organized fundraising meetings and dinners, wrote letters, asked for donations, and spoke for the cause. Two months later, Dr. King was sitting in her office and thanked her for efforts. She also coordinated the organization of Afro American Unity (OAAU) for Malcolm X. When Malcolm X was assassinated she was shell-shocked and went to Hawaii with Bailey. She realized all she really cared about was writing.     Her autobiography starts in the small town of Stamps Arkansas. Maya recalls her youthful escapades with her brother Bailey in their Grandmother’s store. Their Grandmother was a harsh woman, who scrubbed them clean every Sunday (much to the children’s dismay). She recounts her first fearful encounters with racism and sex. Later, Maya moves to California with her beautiful mother.     Baldwin along with Robert Loomis, who was a book editor for Random House, proposed that Angelou write an autobiography that could also be a piece of literature--and with that Angelou began to work on what would later be titled I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings (“Continuing”).
