Essay On Locavore Movement
As a human we all enjoy having a choice on what we put in our bodys. With all the different types of food we have to choose from it's kind of difficult to know which ones are the best for you. That's why the Locavore movement should be put in action because eating local makes more for the economy, produce is fresher, and the food is better for the air quality and pollution.

Everyone wants a prosperous economy, eating locally means more for their economy and for themselves. “ A dollar spent locally generates twice as much income for the local economy.When businesses are not owned locally, money leaves the community at every transaction.” (Maiser, Jennifer) As humans we love money. When you think about it 95% of our world runs around money. So why spend it when we can just save it and put it into our own pockets rather than someone else.

Fresher food is the better food, and always healthier. “ While in supermarket or a big-box store has been in transit or cold-stored for days or weeks, produce that you purchase at your local farmer’s market has often been picked within 24 hours of your purchase. “ In 2005 study by the journal Food Policy , it was found that the miles that organic food often travels to our plate creates environmental damage that outweighs the benefit of buying organic. Buying local food keeps us in touch with the seasons. By eating with the seasons, we are eating foods when they are at their peak taste, are the most abundant, and the least expensive” (Maiser, Jennifer) The amount of time we have on this earth is decreasing by the moment with all the pollution and nasty air quality left on this earth our time is coming short. A way to try and cut back on the time is to eat local grown food since it's a natural food the oxygen being released from the plant replaces the nasty air

    Buying locally grown foods lowers the greenhouse gas emissions caused by the transportation, production and retail these foods must go through to get to major grocery stores (Source D). But what some tend to overlook is the fact that local farms may produce more pollution than the farm a few states away. It makes much more sense to grow lamb, for instance, in a natural environment in New Zealand rather than factory-like conditions in England (Source C). Although an Englishman buying lamb grown in England reduces air pollution, the carbon footprint left by the English farms has a higher environmental cost. An argument against the locavore movement states a truck shipping 2,000 apples over 2,000 miles uses the same amount of fuel per apple as a local farmer travelling 50 miles to sell 50 apples (Source C).
