Pache is a traditional food of the Guatemalan people. This recipe can be made with either rice or semi-mashed potato. This is a staple dish in my household, around the holiday’s or any other special occasion.This recipe is based on my mother’s and other relatives contributions. Prepared with simple ingredients this is a hearty food that will make any of your guests leave your home with a satisfied appetite and wanting more. First, you will need to get the equipment and ingredients you will need to make Pache. Several pieces of equipment are necessary: a spatula, large baking sheet, two cooking pots, steaming rack, aluminum foil, potato masher, spoons, and a timer if needed. A long list of ingredients needed for this hearty dish: five pounds of potatoes, four ounces of pumpkin seeds, one cinnamon stick, ten pieces of allspice, two pounds of tomato, two tablespoons of annatto, quarter teaspoon of salt, four slices of bread, half a pound of tomatillo, half an onion, four ounces of butter, banana leaves, three dry guajillo chili’s, and two dry ancho chili’s. Now that you have gathered all the equipment and ingredients, let's get started. When you have obtained all of the specified equipment and ingredients listed above, the next step is to prepare your ingredients. Fill a large pot two-thirds of the way with water, place on stove top and let the water boil, also preheat the oven to three hundred degrees.
