Cardiovascular Pathology The heart has many components to it and all of them are essential to keep the heart pumping. Three problems that can occur in a heart are atria or ventricles not functioning properly, the electrical activity, or coronary artery disease. While all of these problems are different they can all be deadly if left untreated. The heart is a very important organ and should be taken care of properly. When an atria or ventricle goes isn’t working right it completely changes your life. There are many different ways this can happen a procedure gone wrong, an untreated heart condition, or abusing drugs. Some ways this can be treated is by getting a pump that essentially does the work for that part of your heart, having a heart …show more content…
What caused her heart attack was a blocked artery. When the doctors went to unblock the heart they ruptured an artery wall, which caused her to go into biventricular heart failure. Due to this she had to have two pumps inner heart and carry a noisy device about the size of a suitcase everywhere she went. They had to lower how much work the pumps were doing so that there would be less blood transfusions, because all of the blood transfusion make it harder to get a donor heart. They ran tests on her to see if her heart had healed enough to live without the pumps, and when that came back negative they decided to put her on an experimental pump. After she got it she had multiple strokes and her health deteriorated quickly. So they quickly found a new pump which was the only solution they could give …show more content…
A simple doctors visit saved Sue Isaac and Georgia Downard if they didn’t have go to their appointment they would have never known they were at that great of risk for a heart attack. And there are some cases where you have no control over your heart condition, but still need to take extra care to make sure you aren't making it worse.
