One of the biggest opposition of same sex marriage is Christians. While the Bible does address homosexuality, it does not explicitly mention gay marriage/same­sex marriage. It is clear, however, that the Bible condemns homosexuality as an immoral and unnatural sin. Leviticus 18:22 identifies homosexual sex as an abomination, a detestable sin. Roman 1:26­27 declares homosexual desires and actions to be shameful, unnatural, lustful, and indecent. First Corinthian 6:9 states that homosexuals are unrighteous and will not inherit the kingdom of God. Since both homosexual desires and actions are condemned in the Bible, it is clear that homosexuals “marrying” is not God’s will, and would be, in fact, sinful. Same sex marriage is a subject that is highly debated and appears to be unsolvable. According to
Christian beliefs, in the beginning God made a man, Adam, and a woman Eve. God gave Adam a woman not a man so that the human race can be preserved. Gay rights groups are fighting for rights and religious groups are fighting against same­sex marriage. The argument regarding same­sex marriage weather it should be legalized or not is extremely controversial, because there are numerous opinions and standing views on same­sex marriage. The issue of same­sex marriage provokes various disputes against religion and rights.

Copan states that as Christians we should be welcoming to everyone from every background and lifestyle. Another point that is made is that Scripture doesn’t speak against homosexual inclinations, only homosexual actions. Everyone lusts. Whether it is heterosexual or homosexual, lust is a sin; the decision to act on that lust is a different story. It is just as bad for a man to lust after a man, as it is for a man to lust after a woman (lust is lust). God says that we have already committed adultery in our minds just by lusting. Although the cause of homosexuality is unknown, people can have homosexual feelings AND still be a Christian as longs they do not act upon their desires. When people read things like this in the bible it’s basically telling them it’s okay to discriminate against others, such as homosexuals. It is so wrong that the bible consists of sch horrible, degrading passages, saying if a man is in sexual relations with another man they should be put to death. The bible also states, “Leviticus 18:22 - Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination.” Don’t get me wrong I see no problem believing in god, but I don’t believe people should take the bible as serious as they do. The bible doesn’t only talk about discrimination against homosexuality, it also talks about how women must listen to their husbands, and different foods you shouldn’t eat because if you don’t obey the bible you are going to hell. Leviticus 19:27 reads, “You shall not round off the side-growth of your heads nor harm the edges of your beard.” That’s basically saying you can’t cut your hair or you’re going to hell, which is complete stupidity. The bible also states, “You are to keep my statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together.” The bible just has ridiculous “laws” that you must abide by like not mixing two fabrics, therefore saying you can’t wear polyester. I think it’s foolish that many people know the bible has irrational passages written in it, but insist on saying, “According to the bible homosexuality is…

    The author of the article is clearly in favor of same sex marriage; however his example really does not pertain to the actual issue When he illustrated the example of the women getting hit by a drunk driver and sent away to a nursing home, it caused a separation from her spouse (woman).
