English 1020 Experience
My English 1020 Experience English 1020 was a challenge to me because I only like writing about topics of my choosing. I love to write about different topics, but literature expands more than our personal opinion. I say it was challenging because I was required to write about subjects that I really wasn’t interested in writing about. Writing papers can be challenging, exciting, and interesting at the time. English has always been my strong point, but English 1020 didn’t go as well as I had planned. I could have done better with more preparation. I approached English with the mindset that it would be easy. I found English 1020 challenging because I was never required to put so many sources in my papers. Founding sources can be hard …show more content…
I would love to write about sports, politics, and love. These three subjects interest me. I played football in high school, and I want to be an attorney that’s why I’m interested. Everybody can relate to being in love at some point of time in their life. I love writing about those things because they relate to my life. English 1020 were interesting to me because my 1010 English class was strict, but I passed with a B average. English 1020 were difficult, but I thought I would adjust but it just got harder as time increased. The next English class that I attend I’m going to work harder and strive for the best. School is supposed to make me a better person and I will make the most of my opportunity. I love attending college because I know it will better my future. I know my future depends on my educational progress. In conclusion I thank my English 1020 instructor for holding me accountable for my papers. I know in the future it would pay off in the benefit of helping me. College educates me better in my future, so while it might be hard for the moment focus on the big picture which a career. I plan to become an attorney, but I cannot achieve any great amount of success without any educational experience. Overall English 1020 didn’t go as planned, but I’m thankful for the opportunity to

English 1101 was not like I expected. I came into the class thinking this was going to the hardest class I have ever taken. Turns out that the class was one of the easiest subjects I have taken this semester. There were only a few essays that had to be written which was good and bad thing at the same time. My grade was pleasing considering the fact that I am only a sophomore in high school. The class will be every beneficial in the future; when it is all over I will appreciate taking the course. While the structure of the class was not put together well, the English 1101 class turned out to be manageable.…

By using this I have discovered what my goals and dreams are. I wanted to pass this class and go on to college but that's not going to happen if I fail english. I realized that all that busy work she was giving us wasn't actually busy work. She showing us how hard it can be in college and most of the material now that I come to think of it helped me with everything I did in that class whether it was vocab or learning to write a better thesis statement. My goal for that class was to pass with an 80 or high by the end of each marking period and to not slack on all my work and to do it well and on time. Now I actually do my work ahead of time so that I don't forget and I have time to go back and look over it and sometimes I have a little free time to myself. My current grade in my CCC English 102 is an 89 and so far i've been doing things days before they are actually do so I make sure it's…

English 90 did not only refresh me of things I learned in high school but it has refined them. Using correct punctuation was an unclear problem I never could get a grasp on until English 90. Difficult tasks such as starting and ending my essays are a thing of the past. Now I know to brainstorm ideas and narrow them to a specific topic. Essays used to take me a plethora of hours to complete and now I know how to make an efficient outline that allows me to complete essays a significant amount. Keeping my work organized and functional was a key part of my success in English 90. Having an outline to guide me through the semester allowed…

English 101 however, helped me improved the areas in which I was weak in from high school. Before, it was difficult to find the bigger meaning of an article, poem, or any form of writing in general. However, with the help from taking this course I was able to figure out how to add meaning to the essay. I also learned how to add evidence and analysis them better in my body paragraphs as well. It was difficult in the past, but now I gained skills such as outlining, writing rough drafts and the organization needed for a successful essay. I hope in English 102 that I will use my English 101 skills and be even more skilled in my essay writing. I also hope to learn more about adding evidence within the paragraphs and honing in the essay to make it all flow together. Also in English 102 I hope that I will learn to be more confident with my essays. I have talked in a couple of assignments where my confidence makes me question whether or not to add certain analysis into essays which sometimes may have made my grade not as good as it could have been. In English 102, I hope I will not question myself as much and show more confidence. I also wish to eliminate repetition in English 102. I have received many comments that I repeat my analysis a lot and that also cuts of some points of my grade. I need to continue the analysis more rather than just repeat it in a different way. With these two core English classes that I have/will take, I know that my foundation in writing will be…

When the semester began I thought to my knowledge that my writing was that of good quality. Though I had a good basic understanding of the format of an essay or letter I still had a lot to learn. My writing changed in many ways such as learning to eliminate unnecessary wording in my thesis, the use of synonyms, analyzing quotes and writing abstract to concrete thoughts or ideas. This Class not only helped enhance my writing abilities but to also better evaluate the writings of others and forced me to acknowledge the rigorous work of future courses in college.…

As my English 101 class comes to an end there are many valuable lessons we learned in this class. We learned how to respond to the author. We learned how to write in the They Say/I Say style, which I plan on using this style to write in most of my papers from now on. Another lesson we learned in this class was how to create a thesis with tension. The lessons I learned in English 101 will most likely be used again as I progress on with English 102 as well as the rest of my college career.…

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I trudge up two flights of stairs with the wind whipping at my face as my fingers feverishly click out the final text message I need to send before class starts. I walk into the warm, musty computer lab and sit at my usual spot with the view of the library through the tree limbs. I am always sure to come to English class because I know of my terrible history in this subject area. I have always struggled with English and before this semester had assumed that the college level class would be the death of me. As I read over the syllabus for this class it states that we will learn to understand writing assignments as a series of tasks and develop flexible strategies for generating, revising, editing, and proof-reading the assigned papers. I shuddered at the sheer thought of having to write five papers. Narrative, Evaluation, Profile, Position. These words might as well have been written in another language because I had no idea how to differentiate between them. Despite my fears, I believe this semester’s English 101 course has truly helped me develop my writing skills and advance to a more capable writer.…

Since I have not heard any rumors about English 101, I cannot judge how this class may go for me. English and Writing is not one of my strengths but I really believe this class will help me turn my weakness into a strength. The way we were taught to write formal essays in high school are nearly the same as it is in college. Using the MLA format was big in my high school because we were told it was going to be a necessity in college. Something different about this class is having to write everyday. Every time we enter this class we should have a piece of writing ready to discuss and peer edit.…

This is my second semester of online classes and I am proud to say that English has been one of my most proud, but challenging online classes I have had; even though my grades do not show a lot of excellence I usually am a very low-grade student in the class of English. Mrs. Goerl was very helpful when it came to grading and response; she always was very prompt in having assignments graded, but at the same time you knew she took a lot of time into the evaluation of the assignments. I appreciate the detailed feedback and am still returning back to them for reference and help.…
