We are pleased that you have selected our Firm for legal consultation and services in connection with the sale of the ABC Property. We are pleased that you have considered us for your legal needs, and assure you that each member, associate and employee of this Firm will do his or her utmost to fulfill these needs in a courteous and expeditious manner. Our ability to best represent you should be based upon a mutual understanding of what you want us to accomplish and how you will be charged for our services, which is the purpose of this engagement letter. I also want to assure you that our conversations and our relationship should and will be kept absolutely confidential.
While hourly rates are not the sole determinant of our fees, they are a major factor to which we refer in determining a reasonable fee for our services. Our current hourly rates range from $__ per hour for law clerks and $___ per hour for our newer associates to $____ per hour for certain specialized work by our most senior and experienced members. It is presently anticipated that I will perform the primary services on this engagement, and my current hourly base rate is $___. Staffing decisions are made by the member in charge of the engagement, with the objective of rendering services to you on the most efficient and cost-effective basis. Hourly rate schedules are reassessed annually, with adjustments usually effective the first of each calendar year. You will receive notice of any adjustments to hourly rates promptly.
To help us determine the value of our services, we ask each of our lawyers, legal assistants and certain clerical personnel providing specialized support to maintain time records for each client and matter. The time records are reviewed monthly by the responsible attorney assigned to you before a statement is
