Eminem Lose Yourself Analysis
Your heart is beating, your lungs are taking in and giving out air, your mind is thinking. You are alive. Your life may be dull and bland, but you are still alive. There is a cliche that states that there is more to life than just being alive. Sadly, this is very true. You could go through your entire life without ever actually living. The number one regret people have before they die is that they never actually lived. There are several references in today's culture that reflect on this. For example, in Eminem's Lose Yourself he starts by asking, “If you only had one opportunity to seize any thing you ever wanted, would you capture it, or let it slip by? “ Unfortunately, too few people take their opportunity, most letting it slip by out of laziness or fear of what would happen if they do take it. Another song that references this is All Star by Smash Mouth. It goes on to explain that you have to take life slow and …show more content…
People will tear down other people just to make themselves feel better. Even though the people who are tearing down other people may think that they are making themselves feel better, they generally aren't. If people went after whatever their issue was instead of targeting other people, they might actually have a chance to resolve their issues and live their life happily. However, people generally don't do that. Instead of getting help, they will attempt to tear down other people around them in an attempt to feel happy for the moment. These people are called bullies, and bullying can often lead to depression, ruining someone else's chance for a happy life, or even suicide. There is no book that will give you a step by step guide on how to live your life the way you want to. You will have to find that out yourself. However, there are guidelines. You can eliminate stress along with its sources, have a dream and follow it, do what makes you happy, not just makes you rich, and do not be a

If you see someone getting bullied for something they can’t help, you should say something. Making fun of someone for something they can’t help is wrong and you should stand up for that person. Helping someone out is the right thing to do. You wouldn’t want to be picked on and nobody stand up for you. Like in the story “Angel in Disguise”, it talks about how nobody wanted this little girl because she was sick.…

We live in a world with struggles everywhere and not a lot of effort from people to change it and make a better place to live in. In Tupac Shakur’s song “ Changes” (1992) the most important controlling idea supported by the lyrics is the way African Americans were treated bad for being a minority. He specifies struggles they go through living in the ghetto, war on drugs, and how they would get treated by the police because of their skin color. This was how it was back then when he wrote this song and we still see it now going on.…

People have judged and misunderstood others for as long as humans were on this Earth. People have a nasty habit to think of people who have been lonely and bullied as outsiders, although outsiders are just people who are completely misunderstood and judged the wrong way. If people took the time to know these “outsiders” people mistreat, they would understand that these people are just normal kids that got mistreated badly. Nobody wants to be an “outsider”, but sometimes you become one for various of different reasons like being a new kid, being smarter than most kids, wanting to be alone, and more.…

According to “Tales of Bullying,” bullying can result in suicide, depression, and just why would you want to put someone down? You may ask one of the reasons could be they felt left out so they feel that you should too. I also think a bully is worse than a bystander because they can cause suicides, guilt, and they lose trust. I would not lose trust from my family just to bully somebody. I don’t know about you but I don’t get a good feeling when I put someone down. That is pretty crazy if you like putting people down.…

Labelling When you label an individual, you are fundamentally putting them into a stereotypical class of people. For example, if you like rap music some people might automatically label you as a ‘Gangster or thug' which is very stereotypical especially if you aren't a gangster or thug. When faced with the decision of which pop song really stood out to me during my youth and adolescent years, the song “Lose Yourself” by Eminem immediately came across my mind. From listening to this song during soccer game warm ups, to quietly being indulged in my own headphones while studying for high school exams, this song was like no other in my ITunes library. On top of its amazing use of musical elements, I especially love this song because of its connection to certain socio historical factors and the pure raw meaning behind its lyrics. Although the reaction to this song was quite mixed, and stirred a lot controversy, it was the most defining rap song of the early 2000s. While sitting at my seat pondering about this piece, it brought me to a scene of reminisce to all the milestones that I’ve gone through with this song playing in the background. This feeling serves as a foreshadow to the content and messages delivered in this song that will be further discussed. I will attempt to dissect “Lose Yourself” in this paper and provide a thorough analysis of its different musical elements, its social background, and my own personal thoughts towards it. Eminem’s ingeniousness in creating this masterpiece resulted in an academy award for the best original song in 2002 – a vindication to the impact that this song has had.…

Before choosing a concert to attend I wanted to choose a genre and artist with music that meant something to me and not just go to a random concert that I would only attend for this class and never want to see again. After assuming that we could attend any concert we wanted, I chose to attend a G-Eazy concert, but after really going through the concertgoing handbook I noticed that it might be a little tough to write about modern music. Nevertheless, I think that it would be intresting to write about music that porbably not many people are going to write about in class and see the individual compositions I can find in the genre I chose.…

Many view the influence of hip hop music and culture as negative, degrading, promoting crime and generating, a generation of reckless young individuals. I was among the many, however after viewing the documentary of “The Art of Rap” my perception has slightly changed. The five elements of hip hop which is knowledge, writing, emceeing, rhyming, and style, does make hip hop an art indeed, which I think, many artists have not considered the impact. So much of the language is degrading to women and it creates a negative relationship within the family structure. Although hip hop music and culture may last, many American has been affected by it, in the past, the present and possible in the future.…

We are never promised the honor to live the next day; we are never guaranteed tomorrow. You can not live regretting your decisions. You must live in the moment or the moment is wasted. The one you love more than words could describe could be gone tomorrow; the reason they are gone could get locked up. Lose focus and look away, what you turned to see can be the last thing you saw before you life flashes before your eyes. Your next breath you take in could be your last. We all realize these things at our own pace; we all have experiences that open our eyes to reality; mine were all crammed into one dramatic week. “Everything happens for a reason, but I think it's important to seek out that reason - that's how we learn” as said…

I was labeled and given harsh names. Nobody deserves to be bullied, we should be busy supporting each other and giving each other constructive criticism rather than giving out demeaning behavior. I find myself being too nice to where I know that if people make fun of me, I wouldn't make fun of them. I don't want to stoop to that level. I don't want anybody giving bullies the satisfaction of seeing us sad and failing. Clearly, we must do the opposite. I am not dropping out of college just because someone says I am wasting my time, Just because I was called desperate, a Debbie downer, or weak, etc. doesn't mean I'm going to give those labels any truth. As we grow, we begin to mature. Thankfully, years have passed and after all these complications, I learned to forgive my cousin. He was going through a hard time himself. After forgiveness, we became the closest of cousins. I am thankful that websites allow us to report rude/inappropriate content. I believe that's what helped everyone who witnessed this to soon forget about this mishap. This is a reminder that we should all watch what we say and to be careful what secrets we reveal and to…

My mother said this to me about a million times over the first fifteen years of my life but, I never really put this piece of wisdom into action until many years later. We all die, but we don’t all live. I am a firm believer in living life, that there is a huge difference between living and simply existing. There are many reasons to live in the moment, but first it's important to note that even that term doesn't mean the same thing to everyone. You can't live life to the fullest if you don't even know how to slow down and live in the moment.…

People have different perspectives on how is life worth living. For me, there are many things that make my life worth living. Life offers many challenges but through the love that I receive from my family and friends I become strong enough to face them. Love that I can receive as I live is what makes my life worth living. The opportunity to receive and share it to others really makes my life worth living. Happy moments that I spend with my loved ones also make my life worth living. They help me create good memories as I continuously live. Another one is the chance to improve myself as an individual and to have a purpose on other’s life. As I explore my potentialities, it’s worth living to have an impact on other’s life. It’s like knowing that if I leave this world, I’ll be remember by those people which I have left an impact. And life is worth living because it lets us experience failures and attain success. Failures strengthen us to face the struggles and obstacles that we will encounter while success makes room for more improvement to be an individual worthy to be called as successful.…
