Emerging Young Leaders Application Essay
I am Brianna Belmontez and I would like to join the Emerging Young Leaders because it is an exceptional opportunity for middle school girls. I believe that EYL is a chance to learn essential skills and traits in a warm and friendly environment. The program also gives us a chance to engage with the community and reach out to our communitites.

This is my last year in middle school and I would like to spend some of my time participating in what Emerging Young Leaders has to offer. EYL’s workshops alone can help build on some valuable life skills. According to, National Center of Education Statistics, “Extracurricular activities help students engage themselves in school and their work.” If I were to be in this program I would not only be able to engage in school work, but will be able to develop skills that will not only help me now, but when I am older. The leadership skills that these workshops teach will be useful years from now, even after I apply for jobs, and am striving to get a promotion. I will be able to feel comfortable taking charge in whatever situation I am put in and that will make for an excellent candidate.

For as long as I can remember my mom was always telling me about all of the clubs she was in during high school. From what my understanding is and what I’ve learned is a great opportunity given to the students at Washington High School. I see NHS as a way to build character and leadership into a person, more than just grades alone. As this organization/club being student ran, it is a way of letting and showing people what the students can do on their own. This shows through how well the students influence is shown within the community and though their peers.…

For those who don’t know me; my name is Amber Evert. I am 16 years old and will be a senior in high school. I am from Woodland California and have been visiting here in Pleasant Grove for the summer. I am Brandi and Tyler Washburn’s younger sister who are fairly new to your ward. During my stay here in Pleasant Grove I had the opportunity to attend Girls Camp at Mutual Dell with the Young Women. Girls Camp has always been one of my favorite summer activities and one I have looked forward to ever since I was a young girl and saw my two older sisters headed off to Camp Ritchie for the week. This year I was not planning on attending any girls camp anywhere until I came here and some of the young women leaders brought it up to me. At first the answer was no because the thought of going to a camp with a bunch of girls that I didn’t know and who knew nothing about me seemed to scare me quite a bit and was very intimidating, but after talking it over with my sister I decided it would be good for me to go.…
