Elektra Products used to be the leading manufacturer and retailer of electrical products and supplies. The company experienced a cloud of problems: market share was declining and product ideas were limited. Departments didn’t communicate with one another, morale was very low and many employees were keenly seeking other jobs. As market share is declining, this means that the company isn’t making sufficient profit and revenue.
To improve, the company could make a survey to see what their customers prefer and if they are willing to buy their products. The company needs to increase production capacity, improve productivity and output quality. By buying new machinery they can accomplish these objectives, also they will be able to compete with their competitors. The company has a high turnover because the employees have low morale. Elektra Products should consider altering these aspects to get the empowerment process back on track. Martin needs to understand the ideas of his colleagues, also he needs to consult with managers and motivate employees by providing the training they need. Managers need to support Barbara’s ideas as well.
Barbara had to consult with each department head before the meeting to avoid any conflicts. Communication plays a very important role in this. Barbara needed to talk to the team and to department heads to solve any issues. She needed to have diverse teams, so to be more innovative and can develop correct strategies and have advantages over organizational changes.

If I were in Barbara’s position I would have focused on motivating my employees and to make them understand the company’s aims and objectives I would change my position to adapt the changing situation and give all team members the power, freedom to make decision and perform effectively.     Setting performance standards is the first thing that Lei needs to do.
