Effects of Adolf Hitler

After being defeated in World War One, Germany was severely punished. Not only did they have to accept the blame for causing the war, they had to pay millions of dollars in reparations. At this time they had a democratic government called the Weimar Republic. The Weimar Republic was unable to resolve their economic problems. Germany needed someone to take lead of the country. Born April 20, 1889, Adolf Hitler took this opportunity to take control of Germany. Hitler was a great leader and public speaker. He promised the Germans to end the economic problems. Hitler had the ability to talk and make the Germans believe that the Jews were the reason for the problems in their country. Although he seemed like a great leader for Germany the result of him in power was devastating. He was the reason millions of Jews were forced into concentration camps and millions died. The primary contribution Hitler made to the German society was that he completely destroyed Germany. Not only did he destroy lives, Germany had no economy, no coherent political system, no communications system, no libraries, no schools, and no hospitals. In a sense German society did not exist in 1945 and had to be rebuilt from scratch to become modern Germany.

When Hitler began his rule he became a totalitarian dictator. He used his new power to crush all opposition and he forbidden all political parties besides the Nazi’s. In about three months later Hitler forbade all non-Nazi parties, organizations, and labor unions. He banned all personal freedoms and took over labor unions as a result wages fell and strikers could be shot. The Nazis worked closely with the businessmen to make sure that the workforce were as controlled as possible. Also all culture had to be German which included music. He used censorship to ensure the Germans could only see what the Nazis believed was acceptable. Newspapers, radio and all forms of media were put under the control of the Nazis. Censorship...
