The two most important things I learned from Clearance Birdseye was that, he grew up in a generation of inventors which heavily impacted his decisions on becoming one himself. Maybe if he was born sooner or later, his decisions would’ve been different. The second thing I found interesting was that he lived in Labrador for many years. For people who don’t know, Labrador is a province in Canada which is mostly freezing all the time. That is were he crossed paths with the method of freezing by putting cabbage and salt water in a barrel layer by layer overnight until it froze.…

Inhumane, atrocious conditions, which Romans had imposed on their slaves created a favorable ground for frequent outbursts of slave uprisal. In the past, during the years of rebellions, instigators were discovered and executed, and hundreds of participants were crucified often framing the roads to Rome with their decayed bodies still hanging on the crosses (60). Among the prominent leaders of the opposition movement was a legendary Red Eagle, whose words stirred up slaves spirit and spread like fire throughout the city (60, 354). Using "act" or posters, Red Eagle spread the message of fighting for equality and freedom by nonviolent means opposing assassinations with his conviction that " the rulers had as many rights to a long life as slaves"…

One of the biggest reasons parents don’t want any pet, including a Spotted Eagle Ray, is they are too messy. Although, in the ocean, rays don’t get baths and the water isn’t cleaned out, so in captivity they don’t need baths either and the water they are in won’t need to be cleaned. Also, since they don’t have the ability to walk they will not track mud, leaves, or dirt into the house. A Eagle Ray would be the perfect pet for anyone that does not want to constantly clean up after them.…

Sepia latimanus, common name cuttlefish, can be considered as one of the most uniquely evolved creatures of marine habitat. The species, despite their name, are not a fish, but molluscs. Cuttlefish are part of the order Sepia and belong to the class Caephalopods, which also includes squid, octopuses, and nautiluses. 'Cuttle' is a reference to a unique internal shell, the cuttlebone. As with all other mollusks, the cuttlefish has a calcium-based mantle which shapes the body, which is not unlike that of a jellyfish in ways other than appearance. The cuttlefish have eight arms, not unlike octopus, and two tentacles. Between these two tentacles is the mouth. The…

    Marine Invasive Species

The lionfish itself is built for invasion. They have a wide range of diet, known to eat 70 different species of fish along Florida, including other lionfish. These vocarious and ambitious predators can expand their stomach 30 times in volume, making it capable of eating fish as large as a 20 pound grouper. A lionfish is known to be able to survive up to 3 months without food; with the lionfish in the Atlantic though, the lionfish are actually obese due to overeating, even suffering from liver damage. It is estimated that a single lionfish can reduce marine creatures by 80% to 90% within 5 weeks. This broad diet is part of how lionfish make such a huge impact on the ecosystems. With no natural predators, the lionfish can typically roam where it pleases. However when they are threatened, lionfish have 18 large spines filled with toxin that can release when it pricks something. Lauren Arrington, of Florida, and Craig Layman, of South Carolina, did experiments that demonstrated that lionfish could tolerate a minimum salinity of five ppt. This allows potential expansions into brackish waters, estuaries, rivers, and streams. With how these fish breed, any place can become a lionfish spawning ground. From the age of 6 months to their death, Female lionfish release 12000 to 15000 eggs in egg masses at minimum every four days in optimum tropical climates, such as Florida. These masses…
