On September 11, 2011, our client, John Dunham, shot and killed three trespassing hunting dogs on his property. He then used his dog as a deadly weapon to injure Jesse Hester, owner of the hunting dogs. Dunham raises an affirmative defense that he was merely protecting wildlife on his property and possessed a legal right to do so. Pursuant to my research, Dunham will most likely be charged with three crimes and unable to raise an affirmative defense to protection of wildlife on private property.…
In conclusion, the grave goods and the tomb of Qin Shi Huangdi represented the power and strength that he held during his reign. How he built the tomb portrayed his accomplishment that he achieved throughout his life, and he took these with him to his tomb. The Terra-Cotta Warriors symbolized the power that Qin Shi Huangdi maintained throughout his empire by their physical appearance. The pits that held the Terra-Cotta Warriors displayed the power that Qin Shi Huangdi held though his empire. Bronze being used in his tomb furthermore strengthened the image of power that he held throughout his rule. How gold is used throughout daily life in China helped advance the portrayal of power in Qin Shi Huangdi’s tomb. The First Emperor’s tomb set a precedent…

Culture was not the only thing that was traded along the Silk Road. There had also been articles of silk, animals, plants, and even people. Silk from China had been traded for western products, such as horses. Plants had been spread, and imported to regions where they could not be grown. Evidence of people integrating into new societies was in a work of Chinese poet Po Zhuyi. The poem spoke of a girl from Iran who traveled all the way to China to be a dancer, but upon arriving she had been told that she was too late and that she would never compare to the dancers that were already there. While people tried to expand, they weren’t always accepted for who they strived to…

The Aztecs, for example, needed them to gain military intelligence of the lands they visited to later on conquer. The merchants returning with foreign exotic products, such as gems, animal skins, and tropical bird feathers to give to the ruling elites evidence the information gathered about these soon-to-be-conquered lands. The Aztecs also used the merchants to sell the abundance of tribute given to ruling elites to distant lands. Many of these items included translucent jade, emeralds, tortoise shells, jaguar skins, parrot feathers, seashells, and game animals. In the Mongol Empire, they supported merchants and artisans directly more than the Aztecs by making trade routes safe. This resulted in the increase in commercial investment and the volume of long-distance trade, but more importantly lands of China and Western Europe were directly connected for the first time. The Mongol and Aztec empires were both affected by merchants because trade had existed throughout each society creating this class of merchants to help only during win-win situations because merchants are just ordinary citizens trying to find that perfect trade to get them…

An abundant source of information for this book and indeed much of the scholarship done on this region and era comes from the documents uncovered in a small Buddhist cave complex outside Dunhuang, now in Gansu province, China. The Silk Road raises notions of interesting goods, exotic desert sanctuaries and the busy markets of ancient China. However, the Silk Road was also a channel of technologies, diseases, the arts, raising ideas and even style and customs. Spread across nearly 4,000 miles, the Silk Road…
