Duck Mermaid Motion

This picture was taken in San Antonio, Texas. This picture is of a duck swimming away from its previous spot. The ripples the duck is causing by swimming away are an example of bow waves. Bow waves are an ongoing disruption spread through a liquid such as water when an object is moving through the water at a greater speed than the speed of a wave moving through the water. Due to the duck being in the water, moving at a greater speed than the waves of the water, and also causing the waves, these waves are bow waves. This duck swimming away also has to do with Newton’s first law of motion, also known as the law of inertia. The definition of the law is an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed
