As many people know the legal driving age is sixteen years of age, but what if it was raised to eighteen. That is what I believe should happen. Though many teenagers would not agree with me I think it would be much safer for others and themselves. When you turn eighteen you are more responsible .You can vote and be drafted into the army. If people were more responsible then maybe there would be fewer crashes and deaths. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, In 2003, 3,657 teenagers in the United States died from a vehicle crash. In 2002 sixty-one percent of teenage passengers died. The legal drinking age is twenty-one, but that does not stop some teenagers from still doing it. Among teenagers, twenty-seven percent of male drivers, and eleven percent of female drivers in 2002 died and had a high blood alcohol concentrate. Between the two genders combined that is thirty-eight percent. I still believe you should get a learner’s permit at the age of fifteen and a half, but between the three years teenagers can gain more experience when driving. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, compared with older drivers, teenagers are more willing to take risks and not wear safety belts. If they were more experienced then they are less likely to take risks. If the driving age were changed to eighteen years old the road would be a much safer place for everyone. I know adults may agree with me but teenager would argue with me.
