Dress Code!!!!
"In August, a Mississippi student's senior portrait was banned from her yearbook because she had posed in a tuxedo" (Hoffman). As more schools are getting dress code more students aren’t in favor of it.Dress code doesn’t allow students to express themselves, students rebel against dress code and it’s more expensive for families. School uniforms don’t allow students to express themselves. School dress codes are neglecting to teach boys respect for girls and responsibility. For example, "Schools...are neglecting to think in a more liberal way to teach boys to respect girls and control themselves around them" (Boboltz). School uniforms are expensive because parents have to buy a uniform and regular clothes. For example, "Uniforms are a financial burden because families have to buy school uniforms and fashionable clothes when all they would have to do if there was no dress code is just buy fashionable clothes" (Boboltz). Parents spend an excessive about of money on school uniforms. For example, "Americans spend around $1 billion per year on school uniforms" (Boboltz).
Many people who believe in dress code believe they're not infringing on students' rights to express themselves through dress code. "Requiring students to wear uniforms violates their constitutional rights to freedom of expression and discourages creativity" (School Uniforms). Kids still don't do good even with the dress code. "Overall children in schools with mandatory school uniforms policies appear to perform worse than their peers in similar schools without mandatory school uniforms" (School Uniforms).
