Dr. Miller breached Principal D: Justice which proclaims that psychologists need to safeguard against their biases, boundaries of competence, and the limits of their expertise so that they do not lead to condone unjust practices. Dr. Miller failed to do this when she stepped outside of boundaries of competence by trying to assess Mr. Drapier’s alcohol abuse and impairment. When Mr. Drapier verbalized his suicidal ideations Dr. Miller failed to breach his confidentially right to report his threat of self-harm. By doing this she violated Principal E: Respect for People’s rights and Dignity which asserts that psychologists should be aware of special safeguards that are necessary to protect the rights and welfares of individuals whose vulnerabilities may impair their own decision making.
