Dr. Breed Character Analysis
Dr. Breed is one of the main characters in the novel cat's cradle. He's introduced in Chapter nine as one of the people in a research Laboratory. He was a pink old man very prosperous, beautifully dressed. His manner was civilized, optimistic, capable, serene. Throughout the novel, he explains how scientific thought and other people's thoughts are different. He was first introduced when Jonah made an appointment with him in the research laboratory of the general Forge and Foundry Company. Jonah also said in chapter nine “ I suppose Dr. Breed was a member of my karass too; though he took a dislike to me like almost immediately. Likes and dislikes have nothing to do with it an easy warning to forget.” The difference between scientific thought like Dr. Breed and other people's thoughts is that (add detail) when scientists think something is right they look for answers and all kinds of evidence to prove that it’s correct. Also they have scientific background. And scientists never tell anybody something is correct until they have enough evidence. Their curiosity gets the best of them and scientists use all they can to prove everything they think is correct. Scientists use hypotheses and evidence to find out the final answer and then report back to everybody else. …show more content…
Also we never have scientific background unless it is said somewhere else and we see it on the internet. We just assume everything is right we don't actually look for the best answers. In Chapter eleven “she said if everyone would study science more than there wouldn't be all the trouble there was. He said science was going to discover the basic secret of life someday”. Basically he's saying that if people like us were to study more science we wouldn't have so many unanswered questions and issues in the world and we would know almost everything we needed

Krakauer wrote that Chris McCandless was, "green, and he overestimated his resilience, but was sufficiently skilled to last for sixteen weeks on a little more than his wits and ten pounds of rice"(Krakauer 182). In this quote it seems that Krakauer thought that McCandless was well equipped with his skills, so that made moderately prepared to survive in any situation. I feel that McCandless was rather prepared, yet again he never could have been fully prepared for the unexpected. My opinion is that McCandless was vaguely aware of the struggles that he would encounter in the Alaskan wilderness such as his epiphany that "happiness is only real when shared" was realized when his body was dying of starvation. I believed that he found what he was…

As analysis is conducted into the characters of both Chief Bromden and Randle McMurphy, it is easy to conclude that both have characteristics and preform actions that can be considered heroic. Physically both Bromden and McMurphy are huge. But, unlike McMurphy, Bromden does not have the self-confidence to match his gigantic exterior. This contrast in personality is due to the idea that Bromden has constantly been maltreated for the entirety of his life. McMurphy, on the other hand, refuses to be brought down because of his indomitable spirit.…

Dr.Manhattan is a very ethical and unpredictable man. For instance, during a flashback Dr.Manhattan and the comedian went back to the vietnam war, where the comedian shot the woman, while Jon did nothing about it. “You watched me...You coulda teleported either of us to goddamn Australia...but you didn't lift a finger” (Moore 2-15). Dr.Manhattan can easily use his powers to change the world in a big way, yet he does not. He does not use his powers to meddle with the lives of the mortal. His pride, however, does not extend to his appearance, for he spends most of his time indoors watching television, and getting fat. He also enjoys commercials, especially those for Meow Mix, 9 Lives and Frisky, which has lead him to reject generic brands of cat food. He is as picky about visitors as he is about what he eats, befriending some and repelling others. He may rub up against your ankle, begging to be petted, or he may jump up in your lap and claw at your legs until he is given the attention he desires. In conclusion, Mr. Fluffers is a beautiful, magnificent creature that craves attention and just wants to be loved.…
