Downton Abbey
About this movie,I wanna say something about two people--Daisy and William. We should show enough mercy to them for their unfortunate family. For one thing, Daisy have no family members and William’s mother has already died. These two people, who looks a little bit dummy and foolish, but cute and simple. In one word, they are alike in personality. At the first time,Daisy was enchanted by Thomas until she found his bad character while William was pessimistic towards life and it is Hughes and Anna who helped him out of the gloom.Though I didn’t watch the whole teleplay , I am looking forward to their being in a relationship because they are both young and not effected by others and the society. From the point of mine, if together, they would be so happy to live a pure and harmony life. In my point of view, since they have no idea about how evil or hard the life is , there is no doubt that they would still be simple and kind originally. Actually, that’s the life I hoped.

Iron Lady
After watching this movie, what is haunted in my mind all the time is this piece of image. Thatcher in old age walked slowly past kitchen, she descended to the stairs slowly and turned right, tottered and then disappeared in our eyes in the end. Watching this scene, I just can’t help sigh deeply. Life is too short and you only live once. I think it is meant to tell us, you could just live one life, so there is no time for you to waste. Though she is Iron Lady, she still is a common people, she must get old.But there is a difference, she make herself changed, she also makes the world changed.but we don’t, that’s the point. People in my age has already know what they are doing or what they are supposed to do. Only me,has no purpose in life, living like a dead-alive person. It hits me when I saw strong Thatcher, who is telling me just you have no choice but to let you live a meaningful life which would not allow you regret.

With America at war in 2004, looking back to our past to how we overcame insurmountable odds is what Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was pleading when she delivered an eulogy at President Ronald Reagan’s funeral in 2004. She believes that since both wars and eras parallel each other, we must look to back to see how confident and daring President Reagan was when he took on the USSR and communism in order to understand how we should take on the War on Terror. She started out by describing how effective a leader he was and how it pertained to the challenges we were going up against. One of the most significant she said in the eulogy was when she said, “free the slaves of communism,” particularly when she used the word slaves.…

Tom and Daisy’s carelessness is somehow more grotesque than utter cruelty. Nothing is gained from the end of this novel, it’s somehow hopeless. The tragedy is not owed to the hopelessness of Gatsby’s character -- creating a perfect dream for any hopeless romantic -- but rather him chasing an unworthy dream.…

Margaret Thatcher would prove to be the most formidable female leader of the modern age to spite her many critics and certainly since England’s beloved, great sovereign Elizabeth I. From her humble beginnings, she became the only woman in history to rise to lead Great Britain as Prime Minister. Through a steady course of personal development and leadership in which she studied and surrounded herself with great thinkers, she became a highly effective catalyst for change in England and the world. Many critics of her style overlooked or misinterpreted her motivations and decisions to their own blind ends. Margaret Thatcher achieved nearly every goal she set out to attain during her career and still serves as a lasting example of what a true leader…

In order to invoke authentic emotion and a sense of credibility from her global, most likely mourning, audience, Thatcher implements her genuine perspective and regards throughout the beginning of her tribute to Reagan. From the very start, Thatcher captivates her worldwide audience and displays her authentic sentiments about Ronald Reagan through exercising simple yet meaningful repetition in, “[w]e have lost a great president, a great American, and a great man” (1-2). In doing so, Thatcher builds a sense of reliability and genuineness with her international audience which later helps them relate with her sentiments and line of reasoning regarding Ronald Reagan; her choice in the straightforward yet significant adjective “great” allows Thatcher to connect with a larger audience since it is a rather uncomplicated word in the English language that many non-native speakers may understand. Furthermore, since Thatcher is an influential speaker, considering she was the first female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, the fact she implements “we” humanizes and creates sincerity regarding Thatcher to her universal audience who may consider themselves to be rather different and perhaps not in the same boat as her regarding Reagan’s death, allowing them to deem her as a trustworthy source and listen to the rest of her eulogy. Later within…

    Game of Thrones

A Game of Thrones is set in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, a land reminiscent of medieval Europe. Fifteen years prior to the novel, the Seven Kingdoms were torn apart by a civil war, known as the “War of the Usurper." Prince Rhaega Targaryen kidnapped Lyanna Stark angering her family and of her fiancé, Lord Robert Baratheon. The Mad King, Aerys II Targaryen had Lyanna' father and brother executed when they demanded her safe return. Her second brother, Eddard, joined his boyhood friend Robert Baratheon and Jon Arryn in declaring war against the ruling Targaryen dynasty. The civil war ended when Prince Rhaegar was killed in battle by Robert Baratheon. The wealthiest family around The Lannisters finally agreed to support King Aerys, but then turned against him, by capturing the capital at King's Landing. Jaime Lannister of the Kingsguard betrayed and murdered King Aerys and House Lannister swore loyalty to Robert Baratheon. The Tyrell and remaining royalists surrendered and Robert Baratheon was declared King of the Seven Kingdoms. Unfortunately, during the war, Lyanna Stark had died, apparently of illness shortly after her brother captured the fortress where she'd been held captive. Robert Baratheon instead married Cersei Lannister to cement the alliance with her House. Despite Robert's victory, the Mad King's younger son Viserys and only daughter Daenerys were taken to safety across the sea by loyal retainers. Six years later, King Robert proved his resolve by defeating a rebellion by Lord Balon Greyjoy of the Iron Islands. Balon's two eldest sons were killed and his youngest son, Theon, was given to the care of Eddard Stark as a ward.…

    Thrones

For my final essay, I would like to compose a compare/contrast essay between George R. R. Martin’s book Game Of Thrones and the adaptation that is currently being shown on HBO. I would focus exclusively on the first season of the show, as it closely follows the events of the first book in the series. I would expand upon not only the omissions made in the television series, but also explore any creative licenses that the producers took. I would then discuss how these changes affected the story, or if they have any significant impact upon the viewer. I would also like to devote a solid paragraph or two on analyzing how well the show was able to bring to life memorable scenes from the book and how visually seeing a scene compliments reading it and can even give more depth to a character or event. If length becomes an issue, I may also delve into how both formats of telling the Game Of Thrones story have garnered similar acclaim and compare their impact on the public, whether that be fans of fantasy novels or the demographic behind the television.…
