Doppelgänger
Doppelganger
In doppelganger the main protagonist Andrew has a crisis of identity. Who is he? Is he the good boy, he describes himself in chapter 6 as a “G gated kid in an X rated world”. Andrew is in fact an assessory (assistant) to the crime; under the law he would be considered guilty or culpable. This means that he has responsibly for crimes that he knows about and lets happen.

When Josh bullies the year seen boy unnecessarily and Andrew allows it to happen when he could intervene Andrew is also guilty. Andrew did not intervene when josh destroyed the religion teacher’s personal photo. Andrew did not intervene when josh bashed and robbed the pizza delivery boy. Andrew allowed josh to drug him with beer and whiskey, which enables josh to seduce Melanie. Throughout the book Andrew continues to allow both Josh’s to control him and to manipulate and to deceive many people. In the alternate world bad Josh has more power because in that universe/parallel world there are fewer controls on peoples beastliness. Andrew watches as Josh randomly attacks a teenager at Kings Cross, smashing his face in with knuckle-dusters, bad Josh called that an ‘announcement’ of the HallBoys. My Josh said the same thing when he bashed the year 7 boy at school. He has said that it was also an announcement to watch out. Both joshes use violence and intimidation and emotional manipulation to control people. Josh uses Andrew, he calls him ‘buddy’, and he invites him to things like the party and holidays. Josh puts on a mask on concern and interest for Andrews life; but actually uses him for his own game. In this way Josh is similar to Carl Denham. Bad Josh is significantly more violent. It is through understanding the violence of bad Josh that Andrew begins to take responsibility for his own actions. Andrew starts to plan how he can stop bad Josh from killing many more people when he attacks the inner station. This results in Andrews attempt to kill ‘My Josh’ through drugging his

The interaction between Jericho and Josh reveals Jericho’s personality. In the first week of December, Christmas was coming so Jericho asks what he was going to get November, his girlfriend for Christmas. Josh tells Jericho that he was going to get her diamonds and gold jewelry. Jericho response to this was “So I see you plan to shop at the dollar store again this year!” This quote is showing that Jericho is foolish and teasing person. This supports my thesis because it’s clearly showing the author used the dialogue between Jericho and josh to show how Jericho is. As Josh and Jericho were in lunch, they were playing around insulting each other about the food they were eating. Then josh told Jericho’s food was nasty so…

In the dystopian world, we find that many aspects of Josh’s personality are the same as in the normal world. Josh seeks power and always wants to be the leader and he always seems to get his way by intimidating, belittling and pressuring others. This happens in both the real world and the dystopian world. An example of this happening in the dystopian world is when Josh savagely cuts Skinners arm with a knife, just to prove what he can get away with. “…he began to drag the sliver of glass along Skinner’s arm…‘Now in your world…would I be able to do this?’ He pressed harder. The line along Skinners arm increased, centimetre by centimetre.” –Pg. 59. Josh performs this vicious act knowing that being Skinners gang leader means there is nothing Skinner can do to stop him, because Josh has that kind of power over him.…

The imposter is a 2012 British-American documentary directed by Bart Layton about the disappearance of Nicholas Barclay in 1997. The case involves Frederic Bourdin, a 23 year old male that impersonates the 16 year old Nicholas who was missing for over 3 years without a trace. The documentary gives explicit details, evidence, and interviews with individuals involved in the case. The director Bart Layton throughout the documentary presents a story far fetched to be true of the disappearance. The most important pieces to the outcome of the documentary are that the film is divided between reality and fiction, the way that Layton uses Frederic Bourdin in the film to persuade the audience, and Layton’s point of view is questionable of being bias.…

One of the most fascinating reports of a doppelganger comes from American writer Robert Dale Owen who was told the story by Julie von Güldenstubbe, the second daughter of the Baron von Güldenstubbe. In 1845, when von Güldenstubbe was 13, she attended Pensionat von Neuwelcke, an exclusive girl's school near Wolmar in what is now Latvia. One of her teachers was a 32-year-old French woman named Emilie Sagée. And although the school's administration was quite pleased with Sagée's performance, she soon became the object of rumor and odd speculation. Sagée, it seemed, had a double that would appear and disappear in full view of the students.…

    Mistaken Identity Issues

    • 2 Pages

In today’s world, mistaken identity is a serious set back for the criminal justice system. Mistaken identity can be caused from many different reasons. Some of those reasons include: the person’s stress, memory, and suggestions. If a person is put in a situation where there is high stress, it may be difficult for them to accurately recall what happened or whom they saw. For instance, if a person were to be in a convenience store when it’s being robbed, their initial reaction may be to hide and protect themselves rather than call for help. If a crime were to happen in a busy park, and the police are relying on potential witnesses’ memories of what happened or what the perpetrator looked like, they…
