Born in 1946 in New York City, presidential candidate Donald Trump has never been one who quietly follow the rules. Even as an elementary student in Queens, Trump pushed the limits. According to author Andy Argyrakis, Trump’s “rambunctious behavior at The Kew-Forest School resulted in his being sent to the New York Military Academy by the age of thirteen” (Argyrakis). At the academy, Trump played football, basketball, and soccer, and succeeded academically. In 1968, after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in economics, he returned to New York and began working for his father’s real estate company managing properties in New York and later in other parts of the country. One of his best-known projects was the construction of Trump Tower, a $200 million apartment complex and shopping center. Trump is a risk taker and, as such, he has experienced both great success and great failure in the world of business. On June 16, 2015, in the extravagant Trump Tower of New York City, Donald John Trump announced his candidacy for the 2016 presidency. While most Americans raised their eyebrows in bewilderment, comedians erupted in a dance that Happy Feet would envy. His bombastic personality, amorphous hair, and poorly photographed facial expressions have become some of the most popular political punchlines. Critics dissect his statements and possible solutions until they seem unrealistic, and some are, like building a “YUGGEEE” wall to separate America and Mexico. While Trump is one of the most successful men in America, he is portrayed in media to be an ignorant idiot by YouTubers, comedy writers, and even respected…

Donald Trump is the Republican choice and holds views which beforehand were only used as internet jokes, which has led many to initial think he was a joke run for president before he realised he could actually win. He believes that a wall should be built on the Mexican border to prevent people from crossing over without earning a USA citizenship, and also thinks that Muslims should not be allowed into the country in case they are terrorists. Some however think that by “build a wall” actually means he will just increase security, among these are Collan H. who says “Many say that Trump is actually going to build a wall, but he won't.” Many criticize him by saying that he will be persecuting Muslims and that his plan of having a special Muslim…

The candidates I have picked for comparison are Carly Fiorina and Donald Trump. Both are running as Republican’s in the 2017 presidential election. Both candidates are doing well in the polls. Fiorina is second in the polls right behind Trump at first. Fiorina is a former business CEO of Hewlett-Packard. Trump is a real estate developer, TV star and a successful businessman. Where both candidates are Republican’s they will agree on some topic but will differ in the way they agree and the way they would handle each issue that America in facing as of now in the 21st century.…

In the 2016 presidential election, we’ve discovered the true power of the media. The media played a massive role in Donald Trump’s candidacy in which the media gave him free publicity to keep the people informed about his political and social remarks. According to CNN Media, “Donald Trump has earned close to $2 billion worth of free media attention during the 2016 campaign, eclipsing the total value of media attention given to all of his Republican competitors combined”. During the time of his candidacy, media gatekeepers consistently publicized Trump’s promises and comments, in which “Trump received almost three times the network Tv news coverage than all the other [sixteen] GOP candidates combined…”(Campbell, 2016, p.4). The Washington Post negatively affected Trump by leaking a video in hopes of influencing the debate. This 2005 video consisted of Trump on the set of NBC’s Access Hollywood, bragging about touching women inappropriately without their consent because of his status as a celebrity. When the video was somehow leaked to reporter, David Fahrenthold, the Washington Post decided to release the video to the public in early October. Trump’s campaign was in danger as the video was released weeks…
