They will be ready to come out and play when their owners get back from their work or from school. So, if you are thinking about having a rat as a pet, you have to make sure to give the proper care. There are so many reasons why you should pick rats for pets. Here are some of them.

Why Rats are Great Pets

Rats are clean. They groom themselves diligently than your cats. Rats are wrongly pointed out as the cause of the bubonic plague which was caused by fleas on the rats and not the animals themselves. Rats share grooming duties with their cage mates. It is a funny sight to look at rats lick and wash each other.

Because rats are clean pets, cleaning their cage will be easy. You can just scoop out the old beddings and replace it with a fresh one. They are very easy to care for because they don't need much space to live comfortably.

These pets are known to be crafty. They are highly intelligent and that means they are easy to train. They can even find their way out of mazes in a short period of time where it will take a person hours to find his way
