In equal importance, the inability to control emotions has a strong impact on relationships. An example of being unable to control emotions is being “Bipolar.” This disorder can make someone happy one moment and angry the next. A partner could have an emotional disorder and not know how to control nor express the anger and therefore recurring to violence. An emotion that can trigger a downhill relationship is jealousy, because a partner makes them believe that they are being cheated on or led on. These emotions can convince the abuser in the relationship to be suspicious and want to investigate if it is true. Envy can also cause violence in a relationship because one of the partners could have hatred towards the other partner’s friends or family.
