Do School Dress Codes Affect Society?
It has become common for adults to dismiss school dress codes as somewhat inconvenient, but otherwise not important to society in general. Though I agree that school dress codes are inconvenient for students - school is a place to focus on learning, not what you are wearing - I cannot agree that they do not impact society. Dress codes are not only a distraction to students, but also sexist against young women. Most school age girls argue against dress codes by saying that they interfere with their self expression, but overlook that they are actually being discriminated against when they are “dress coded”.

    What teachers are trying to accomplish is to prepare the students for outside of school and work places, but they do not consider that some workplaces does not require a work uniform (Key).
