Politicians may use these words as insults, but these words are a lot more than just insulting words, these words stand for what people believe in. People can decide which ideology they most fit with based on what ideals or beliefs they have. When it comes to political ideology, it comes down to the ideals or beliefs that people have, whether they agree with the ideals of a conservative, a liberal, or maybe a little of both. Conservatives believe in people being more responsible for their own needs. An example of this is that conservatives believe in a smaller government and less government regulations so that the people have more responsibility for their own being. Another belief of conservatives is that they think that healthcare should not be universal. They believe that people should have to work and afford their own healthcare and not have it provided by the government.
