Ideate of Distraction and Driving
Driving and texting is often influenced by the poor usage of social action in relationship, technology revolution, and social media. The usual method of preventing accidents, today, is “to put an end to our own distractions in the car by taking a pledge, that you are making a promise to help put an end to distracted driving”(VanWey), and the ban of usage of cellphone while driving. The best method to prevent accidents is to educate every driver in the country. It is very important to tell your story in order to help educate others about the importance of putting down distraction. Drivers do not know the consequences that comes after being distracted. They often like to show off, believe there is no chance of getting injured, and be in a rush. Texting and driving isn’t the main point of the problem, but it is actually being distracted in general. According to a report published by the NHTSA in September 2009, 5,870 people were killed and 515,000 people were injured due to distracted driving. What are the distractions? The distractions are texting, reading a map, applying makeup, surfing the web, watching videos, setting a GPS device, talking on a handheld cellphones, and eating and drinking. In respond to this problem, many car companies have invented crash avoidance system, which prevents accident concerning drivers who are not paying attention to the road. The Volvo XC60 Midsize SUVs have been equipped with a system known as “City Safety”(CQPress). This system uses an infrared laser sensor built into the windshield to notice vehicles in measured moving, dense traffic, and mechanically applies brake when necessary.
